"I don't know about anyone else, but I sit down painting and I find that what takes up more time than the actual brush work is picking the right brush for the design"
Yes I feel the same way, but lately I have been practicing using one brush for all the strokes, this is something I heard Marcela Murad say. Also Christina Davison says she uses the Number 4 round 99 percent of the time.

I'm finding that I use two brushes most of the time. My fav #4 that I can do some line work with and do thicker lines if I really press. I can't do good (fine) outlining with it so I do change to my fav American Painter #0. I think I will try to using one brush more to see if I really can get use to using just one. I do think I change too often because of color changes. I tend to have several ladden in black and several in white by the end of the day.

I use a #4 and a #1 for pretty much everything... I have a #7 for really big stuff like flower petals and feathers on my flying unicorn design.

[quote="LoriSamson"]Ditto Blaizeee! I order new paints and I spend an hour cutting them all up. I have a container of paint scraps. I thought about warming them in the microwave and pressing them all into one cake. I think that many colors may just get muddy looking instead of marbled. Has anyone ever tried that before?[/quote
Careful you don't end up with a gray/black mess. Swipe a true rainbow cake and then rinse it to see what I mean.

Re: How many faces can you paint per hour?
I just did a party with 45 kids and it was for 2 hours. I was shocked how fast I went. I wasn't expecting more then 20 kids and I prefer no more then 25 in 2 hours. I usually suggest 3 hours if they say more then 25 kids. I like to make sure the kids enjoy the birthday cake, other entertainment like a magic show or pony rides, and present opening.
I don't like rushing things. I prefer 15 kids or less an hour, minimum of two hours a party. If someone wants a 10 minute face, I want to be able to have time to give it to them
I have several #4 and #0 for different colors. I try to keep them organized in my ice tray so I know where they are Some of the #4 have better tips on them and can make a thinner line, but I find it easier to use the #0 instead.

Re: How many faces can you paint per hour?
I'm not even into trying to paint at crazy paces, because ultimately quantity will eventually trump quality. I paint a comfortable 15 kids an hour and I'm good with that. If I pushed myself sure I could do more, but I'm not, but hey that's just me.
Re: How many faces can you paint per hour?
I can paint 20 faces an hour... But I tell clients between 15 - 20 because it leaves time for transitions and indecisive children!
