New Kind of Cheetah and a Grandbaby.

I wanted to shoot a Youtube video with Emma because she had some time off but I got a GRANDBABY BOY!!! instead. The baby came a lot sooner today than expected which was great for my daughter because he was smaller and a really quick birth....anyway.

I was working on doing a new kind of cheetah and I printed out photos of cheetahs, etc. and was frustrated because the paints were so dramatic so I tried something different. I took a tip from the Christina Davison book where she makes the whole design in white/pearl white and then adds color. Instead of paint I used the Ben Nye Powders on top in gold and ice and then orange accents and I really liked it.

I followed the patterns on real cheetahs as much as possible and then I did a cool accidental thing. I made the lip lower...but then I thought "it needs teeth with this" so I wiped of the lower lip area and THEN added the teeth. I love it. So next time I do a tiger or bit cat I'm going to leave the bottom lip bare and paint the black lips under the lip and white teeth on the bottom lip...instant tongue. And they can be at rest and still look like their mouth is open. It's similar to the chin teeth that I love on Wolfe Brothers wolf.

Anyway...I hope to make a Youtube soon on it.

What a great idea. I think you just suggested a MAJOR change in the way many of us do mouth designs on many cats, even some monsters. Way to go, Denise...& congrats on the grandbaby.

Congratulations on the grandbaby. They're what makes getting old so much nicer. Thanks for sharing such great tips for the cheetah. I really love the mouth.

Thank you for the wonderful comments. This is actually my second grand baby and he's a doll. They named him Dylan Thomas for the poet & Bob Dylan. Reminds me so much of our babies...it's a little freaky. My first grand baby is almost old enough to paint! Weird things face painters think about.

I love dis!!! I tried to paint this on my daughter but she wanted a purple and white one and it looked good until she decided to sneeze and then her eye was itchy and a tear rolled down her face and i couldn't fix the painting oh well there's always next ti.....thank you Denise!

It always scares me when I paint under kids eyes that it will turn on the water works. I think I saw someone say to look up and open your eyes wide or something...anybody heard how to stop eyes watering?

finally tried it on my daughter - no where as nice as denise's but i was painting from memory and my daughter was getting irritated with me cause she wanted to jump in the ocean - we were at the beach lol....don't really blame her.......when ur mum facepaints i'm sure the last thing you want to do wen ure at the beach is get painted lol.....i wanted to get pics of her on the beach but as soon as she hit the sand she just ran straight into the sea...haha.....

That's gotta be the best Cheetah and grandbaby I've seen! Love both pics! I'm a little green with envy concerning both!
