Paint Case
64 colors in a 14"x14" space! Google jewelry trays and tons of them pop up in several different sizes
Re: Paint Case
ooohh! Aaaah!!!!
I love it! How did you get your paints to go in the squares so nicely? Was it difficult?

Re: Paint Case
Wow! Looks great!!
How much paint would you estimate you are able to fit into each of those particular squares?

Re: Paint Case
You can sqeeze in 40gr if you fill it to the top. I usually put in about 30gr. Re-potting the paint was pretty easy. I just cut a 1 1/2" square into my paints and carefully peeled it out.
Re: Paint Case
I've ordered mine and can't wait til they arrive. This will look so much neater and professional than the bead box I've been using... plus I won't have to scrunch my sponge to get at the colors. I also ordered wooden trays with black leatherette covering for the plastic liner to sit in so the liner should last longer doing it that way. It'll be easy to keep clean.

Thanks!!
That's a lot of paint. I was worried they wouldn't hold enough, and I'd be re-potting too often, long-term.
It looks so clean, and organized.
Squiggle, let us know how the cases turn out. I wondered how much room they would take up while working, with the lids, and then (duh!) realized you could use the outer cases just for travelling, not while working. Silly me.
I am leaning towards doing this and unless I hear otherwise from you guys on this, I will be placing an order in the next few weeks. Let me know if you run into any complications.
I had thought about reusing eyeshadow/makeup palettes, but they were far too shallow. I never even saw these or thought about jewelry containers!
Thanks so much for sharing, Whitney!!

Re: Paint Case
Mine should be here either Friday or Monday, so as soon as I have them re-potted into these, I'll take some pictures
Re: Paint Case
Thanks, Squiggle!
I'm thinking that since the liners are only 1/2" deep and the case is over 2" high, that you MAY be able to stack both inside? Let me know, cuz I really love this look!!
I'd be worried about putting it into my case without some kind of cover though...

Re: Paint Case
OK, I'm seriously considering this.... I wonder if the trays would fit inside the scrapebook paper holder? I like that I can use the lid to the holder as my table top.
Re: Paint Case
That's a good idea, Linda.
Here are the measurements of each liner/tray: 14 1/8" x 7 5/8" x 1/2" (35.8 cm x 19.2 cm x 12 mm).

Re: Paint Case
The trays I purchased are this size: Tray Size (W x D): 14 1/2" x 8 1/2"Height: 1". This tray is made from engineered wood and then wrapped with an embossed leatherette covering.
Jewelry Tray 1"
What I plan to do is sit each liner in a tray on my fatmax while I'm working, then when I'm packing up, take one liner out, sit it on top of the other liner, and flip the tray and put it over the top of the paints and then sit it in my fatmax, so that the paints are covered

Re: Paint Case
Thanks for the link! I plan on ordering some as soon as I see how Squiggle's turns out.
Re: Paint Case
My only thought is... What if you have a color that you are 're-potting' that is crumbly... In the past with bead boxes and such I have used something to moosh them down pretty hard to get everything to flatten out... Would the light weight plastic stand up to this?

Re: Paint Case
Good question, Suzy. I wouldn't have given thought to the how thick or sturdy the plastic was...
So, after reading the product description I am left to wonder how durable this type of plastic is... will it get squished in the bottom compartment of my FatMax? I store a lot of stuff down there. I am envisioning thin plastic that is maybe one degree sturdier than plastic compartment tray used for food items or Russell Stover chocolates....

Re: Paint Case
That's my fear as well, and the reason I bought the trays to put the liners in I doubt the liners will hold as much paint as I have now in my bead box, but I'll just refill the liner as I need to. The thought of being able to drag my sponge across the color, instead of scrunching my sponge to get to the color in my bead box, was enough for me to switch
The trays arrived today, and one tray is the exact size as my 32-color bead box, which means it will fit in the top of my fatmax very nicely

How 'sturdy' is the liner, do you think?

Re: Paint Case
The liner is much sturdier than I thought it would be. I was able to smoosh the colors easily without damaging the plastic. I'm trying to cut down my kit so I was able to get all the colors I wanted to use in just one liner, so I'm going to use the other tray to hold my split cakes. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow for you. This is going to take up so much less room on my fatmax and be so much faster to set up!
Re: Paint Case
oh good I was imagining something flimsier... I ordered some from a different site and of course they are the most retarded company ever... no confirmation, no order history under my account... BUT they charged my credit card... SO who knows... I will let you know how it went if they ever get here

Re: Paint Case
I just got my larger one for my rainbow cakes in. I share a pic when I finally get them transitioned over. Converting the round rainbows to squares has been a major pain in my butt, but I think will be well worth the effort in the end.
Re: Paint Case
Anybody have an update on their paint case? More pictures (Whitney with the larger case/rainbows conversion, or Squiggle showing the protective case over the liner or with it set up on top of your fatmax)?
Everybody still like it?
