Paradise Detailz Empty Paradise Detailz

Post by MelodyFPL Sun Jan 08, 2012 2:14 pm

I was surprised to see these in my local costume store, so I picked one up, because I was curious. This stuff sucks! I got the white, and it seems the paint itself is so thin, the dots come out pretty much transparent. I make sure I shake it well and everything, but still nothing. I have a much easier time with white paint and a brush.

Do you guys like it? Am I... doing it wrong somehow? (How many ways can there possibly be?) Maybe I just got a bad batch?

Don't know what thread you found, but check out the one on Metinia's paint pots there were comments on it this week and with them you don't need details no matter what level painter you are. sunny

If you found them in a costume shop it could be that they sat around to long. That said, I hate detailz. It's another thing you have to cart around, it takes longer to use them. It's so much easier to learn to load a round brush & just make the dots w/ your paint.

They aren't much use IMO. It is like mascara, once you touch someone with the applicator and put it back in, the contents are contaminated.

And I get better dots with a brush too.

Thanks for the info. At least I can happily jot something down on my "Don't need to try it" list

@ Shannon and Linda, Exactly. Same goes for that dotter wand thing. I never even remembered to reach for it and it did me no better than my brush anyway. I ended up throwing it in a box of miscellaneous art supplies in the depths of the gloom (that is, the basement).

@ Martha, yeah, save the $6, buy a TAG cake with it or something LOL

I have them. Use them sometimes, but dont dislike them that much. Just don't think about using them. I like them when I need a good dot and something is not quite dry. But I wont be buying more.

Now I do have some dotter wands & I use them for when I need cartoon like eyes. When I try to paint bigger circles I never can get them perfectly round(especially on wiggly kids).

I use the round sponge dotters, but I mean that snaz dotter wand that is more or less a glorified eyeliner smudger.....
