Is there a thread on here where there is a sample of someone who has swiped lots of TAG one stroke cakes to see how they blend? scratch

There are some in this thread: http://www.facepaintforum.com/t6780p15-i-am-so-excited-for-the-new-splits#100380 I think these are just some of the custom ones that Metina ordered, not the regular ones.

I love the way that Suzy did those samples, it really gives you a good idea of how the colours work together in different uses. I'd love to see more like those, I have a really hard time deciding and sometimes they don't blend the way you think they will.

I would also love to see some more TAG one-stroke swipes. I looked on your fb page, Suzy, and am not seeing any swipe pics there. Maybe I don't know where to look?

TAG one stroke cake swipes Empty TAG split cake samples (image heavy)

Post by Denise Cold Tue Oct 04, 2011 11:58 pm

Here's samples of all the TAG one-strokes I have purchased (and one I made) and then at the end I put them on paper but I think they look better on skin. Sorry for the focus problems on some. Hope this helps.

One I used up and haven't bought another yet is the dolphin. It's a classic but I didn't use the purple strip much at all...maybe the ocean or blue bird would be better, less waste.

If you are choosing between flame and dragon, go with dragon.
I haven't used my Black Iris or Tropical very much.
Love the brightness of the unicorn cake and use it a lot.
Not in love with the rose but I do use it a lot.
I prefer the 4 rainbow to the neon rainbow.
It takes a lot of paint to make the neon rainbow show up. I usually end up going over it.
I just got the petal cake but it's so pretty I can't wait to use it.
If you are choosing between snake and yellow leaf I would probably go with leaf because I have a LOT of the black end left on snake.
I don't like the DFX rainbow very much because it's too wide...I only bought it to have a true rainbow but I can see I'll have to use a sponge to get all the colors.

I would consider these the must haves:
Yellow Leaf (dragons, snakes, leaves, masks)
Dragon (flames, dragons, masks, butterflies, flowers)
Unicorn (princess crown, butterflies, flowers, eye designs)
4 Rainbow (rainbows...duh Smile)
Magpie (roses, puppies, kitties, koalas, skulls, sharks, eye designs,
Rose (roses, princess crowns, flowers, butterflies)
Blue Bird or Ocean (roses, dolphins, eye designs, birds, butterflies)

Denise, you are awesome! Thanks so much for that!

Now I am even more anxious for my parcel to arrive from Metina - that petal split looks gorgeous and I've got one coming!! Very Happy

I use the sponge exclusively with the neon rainbow instead of the brush, I get a nice bright swipe that way. I also use the same sponge throughout the event, so it gets a lot of colour in it and always comes out bold. I know a lot of people use one sponge per child so that wouldn't be an option for everyone.

I'm glad they were helpful. Yes, Ronnie, I was going to say if others had colors I didn't, it would be nice to get swipes of those too.

I'm going to try and use the Petal tomorrow at an event and we'll see if it's as pretty as I think it's going to be. It's going to be a great excuse to do one-stroke butterflies which I haven't really tried yet.

LOVE your rainbow kitty avatar! My RB Kitty is very similar to yours and if I do one, I best be prepared to have many requests for it after that. Those dang rainbow cakes should come in jumbo jumbo sizes, because they run out faster than any other!

I now have a you-know-whatload of one stroke cakes that I recently bought. I tried to paint samples on tracing paper for all to see but I couldn't photograph them closely enough so you could read the name of each one. I have the rest of the week off from work so I am going to try again...this time I will paint my thigh (extremely large canvas...lol) and see if that works.

BUT I STILL CAN'T FIND A "PETAL" one stroke cake. Would you people stop ordering it so I can....LOL!!!!
