Monster, monster, monster!!!
Hey all,
Ive managed to get a 8hr gig over 4 days (two single hours twice a day) for my local museums holiday fun program and the theme is monsters!
I have this from the organiser:
The face-painting will be part of an activity, ‘Monster parade’, in our ‘Monsters in Motion’ holiday program, so the face painter would not be painting faces for the whole hour, but as preparation for a parade of ‘monsters’ through the museum. The faces would need to be suitably ‘monsterish’.
PLEASE HELP!
I have a dragon/ monster mask which i use but i dont think the one design will cut it!
If anyone has ideas on maybe some whole face or 1/2 face or even eye/ mask designs they will be much appretiated!!
Thanks guys your awesome! and your wealth of knowledge still amazes me!

Re: Monster, monster, monster!!!
Do you have a pic of the one you do so we can see what else to suggest?
Re: Monster, monster, monster!!!
you can always use wolfish type monsters, frankenstien, zombies, skulls or terminators, dinosaurs or giant snakes, giant monkeys (godzilla), swamp creatures.... horned devils.... thats off the top of my head for words

Re: Monster, monster, monster!!!
I think with the standard monster mask (like the one in LJY's video) you could also offer it in a variety of colors, even girly colors because I'm assuming there will be both girls and boys there.
Another thing I'd do is ask the person organizing it if you can get a list of the types of "monsters" they will be learning about at the Museum and tailor your designs by that list.

Re: Monster, monster, monster!!!
This is the "Monster Eye" that I do alot. It looks good in any color. Not my design, not sure where it originated but I think a bunch of painters use it or something similar.
Re: Monster, monster, monster!!!
I automatically think of the one eyed one horned flying purple people eater. And I see a shaggy purple face with a yellow and orange striped horn in the middle of the forehead. I guess mine would have two eyes on the eyelids and a big mouth painted open with fangs kinda scarey but a little cutesy. What about the monsters inc monster too? Or a three eyed alien monster?
Re: Monster, monster, monster!!!
Clayton has a Cheetah Skull and a Green eyed Bug (huge green around the eyes, large, large, large tear drop sized teeth and cracks to fill in-COOL!) that are really cool, both on his youtube, you could toss them in, because they look like monsters, and are really different than the standard. Since I put them on my board, I paint them at least once at every event (THANKS CLAYTON!) I also saw someone do a rainbow skull somewhere, pretty standard if I remember right, but with a rainbow cake base instead of white. Can't remember where I saw it.
Re: Monster, monster, monster!!!
I have a one eyed one horned flying purple people eater on this forum somewhere. http://www.facepaintforum.com/t5197-purple-peolpe-eater?highlight=people+eater ,found it.
Re: Monster, monster, monster!!!
Love the people eater Jody! I think I have seen some of the Monsters from Monsters Inc painted as cheek art too. Not sure where.
Re: Monster, monster, monster!!!
You can do it with a split cake, or like Stacia suggested in different colors, more/less horns and teeth w/ or w/o blood, etc.
Re: Monster, monster, monster!!!
I did this simplified mask this weekend and it looked really great on. I ended up doing about 6 of them. It was easy with a large rainbow cake I'd made for Halloween with greens and oranges. I just sponged the two eyes like you would for butterflies only at a horizontal angle, pounced out the outer edges to make sure they were nice and dark, flipped the sponge to fill the bridge of the nose and then used a medium filbert for the horns. I outlined the mask first to give the horns a chance to dry and then outlined the horns. It takes about 3 minutes. Like others have said, you can use your other rainbow cakes for a more girlie version.

I did one in Boise State colors, I did this one with a one stroke cake and a 1 inch brush, just filled in the rest of the middle with the orange corner of the brush. I call it my "Turf Monster" (because of the blue turf )
