Does anyone use reference dots/ markers?
My husband has told me that I use use reference dots/markers for me to be able to create better symetry (god only know how to spell that BTW). I think, not that I would tell him, its good advice in practicing at home.. does anyone use this? My one stroke dragons/ batman mask etc dont line up.. what do you think?
Re: Does anyone use reference dots/ markers?
Yup...use them for batmans...Vi has a great youtube video on this.

Yeah, my batman is so much better now that I learned to do that from Vi's video. https://www.youtube.com/user/Sparklingfaces#p/u/13/UhLjPhzAQgs
Also when I do a gold crown, with my flat brush I make vertical marks where each of the points will be, then I just swoop between them.

I don't use real dots, but will look at a design back & forth as I paint it to try & get the symmetry right. I'm pretty analytical & visual & think I may "mentally" mark an area. I do plan out & mark my symmetry on larger designs for body painting & belly painting.
BTW, I can't spell to save my life but have a great spell check

Definitely... if it is imperative that symmetry be perfect. I usually just bounce from side to side, one line at a time until I get it filled in. So, sort of the same idea.
For body painting I sketch out the placement before starting with a white liner pencil.

Yep, Vi was my savoir on Batman...I use dots ALL the time. I also have some trouble making things even sometimes when I do a princess or flower crown and on lettering especially, so I will put a faint dot for each letter or flower so that I line them up well. No harm in knowing your limitations and doing something to compensate for them...that is what makes us professionals, knowing what to do.
More power to anyone who does not have to do that...as for me, I feel secure with my dots!

For some reason Batman never gave me much trouble...which is odd because I'm horrible at symmetry. Anyway, I'll use dots if its something new. Nothing wrong with that.

I've got issues with symmetry so I usually use dots too. It's quick to do and makes a big difference for me.

Re: Does anyone use reference dots/ markers?
Never thought of using dots. Something I'll keep in mind if the need arises - thanks!
