Post by jennvangogh Sun Jul 24, 2011 2:37 am

Just wondering if anyone has thought of any design ideas for all the new action flick movies coming out soon. I was thinking about adding some super hero designs other than the usual spiderman, batman, superman.... I gave ironman a go but I am not happy with it at all. ( wiggly model didnt help any either) I get hung up on the angular shapes. Any ideas for green lantern, captain america, iron man, wolverine etc. Anything that is coming up soon movie wise would be great! As you just know that is what the boys will be asking for! I love to see everyone elses ideas to get a few new tips. Green lantern seems to plain to just paint the green mask and all...

Here is my first iron man attempt ...

There are actually several threads on the forum with the super heros. I know that Iron man is there, green lantern, wolverine I think, and lots more. You may want to do a search for the other threads. Lots of FPr's think spidey and batman are Evil or Very Mad curse words...lol... they are the two that get requested the most.

Speaking of which does anyone know of the best red and black for these two.... the ones I use stain heavily.

Ok thats my bit... Smile What a Face

I never bother preparing for movies... as there is never any real interest. I occasionally get asked for the various superheros, but my display is so vast they get distracted and ask for something from the display... LOL

The only regular is Spidey.

There is a thread about heroes and villains somewhere. I think a search will give you many results.

I use superstar (Fab) black and red for batman en spiderman. They wash off easily.

Found one:

I use paradise white and beach berry red for the base. Then I use Wolfe Black or Tulip Black for the line work.

I have got to try starblends. . .I think they would be perfect bases for my climate in the summer (VERY HOT AND STUPID HUMID). I was thinking about simplified hero masks. . .the hero color in a small mask around the eyes and then the details be themed for that hero. Like Captain America in a blue mask with little white wings on either side, and maybe the A somewhere. I haven't quite gotten them worked out yet, but I think it would be nice to have somthing quick and easy for each one to help get the line down.

The Starblends goes on so fast and you don't have to wait till it dries to do the line work! I can do the whole face in about 3 minutes or less Smile

I recently did some batman masks in TAG dark blue with a little black on the sponge and it was fantastic! I have to look at the other threads to get ideas myself!

I had starblends on my list for awhile but can't decide which colors I "need." I'm thinking red, white, black. But after that I don't know what would be necessary. Any tips?

Starblends & Ben Nye Lumiere Pallet are rescuing my summer jobs! It's the way to go.
For Green Lantern I do a basic green mask w/ the Green Lantern Logo in the center of the forehead & paint on a matching green ring.
Flash is the same w/ a red mask & a yellow lightning bolt on the forehead.
The Incredibles in a black mask w/ the Incredibles logo in the center.
Superman in the "S" logo in the middle of the forehead with blue around it & across the forehead.
I also do Wolverine, Batman, Ironman & Spidey.
Your Ironman is pretty good! I like it!

A few super heroes on my boards right now... I was painting at the release of Thor as well as a couple of events for a comic book store, so it was necessary to add more heroes and villains. Snazaroo red is the perfect Spiderman red.

I spent hours looking for superhero ideas on google images I also went through a few threads on here as well. I didnt see many new ones for upcoing movies etc. But I think I will give the mask ideas a go. I saw a few mask ideas when I did that but I was looking for a bit more detail but still good for a 4 yr old or so.

That iron man up top took too long ...and to expect a kid that age to sit that still was crazy of me. But he was determined to have an ironman so I gave it a go... its helped me realize I need to practice him...LOL

Thank you for all the tips.

I just do the symbol all in black. You need to remember the exact line placement so the first few times use a cheat sheet but I find starting at the center easiest and then its all symetrical.

I have googled some before and I have seen some of bumblebee ( yellow transformer) but he looks sad with the line from his eyes. But I bet the kids would love that one too. try googling transformers face paint and click images it should come up.

I have a batman and a basic super hero mask that are my big boy pleasers after the ever-lovin' tiger, lol. I've seen other fp's do this mask and it's so simple and fast yet always a crowd pleaser. I use the Wolfe metallic in their fave color then sponge on a bit of silver metallic to highlight here and there. Smile

Here is a link to the Green Lantern I do. I'll upload the pic later when I'm on my PC and not my iPad. I do less shading if the lines are long and the kids still love it! Had to don't on myself because my darling daughters won't let me do "boy" designs on them!
