Mica Tattoos, best colors to get and picture please??? Thanks!

Thought about giving the mica tattoos a shot but not sure what's the best place to order, what colors, and also pictures.

I just do the glitter tattoos at the moment, but I do have some (ok, a lot) of the coastal scents micas and they are georgeous. really highly pigmented and sparkly. You can get a sample bag of each color for $1. Or a whole oz for $3! I haven't tried any of the other brands because they seem to be way more evpensive. The one drawback to ordering from CS is that their products (unless you get a large size) come in baggies, so you will have to get your own containers to put it all in.

Thanks Sophie, so I found and lost a place that has the 3 grams of mica for $1.50 I think and they come in little containers.

It was SO HARD to get a good picture of these! if there was any sort of light to make it shine then you couldn't tell the color at all (because, let me tell ya', they shine baby!) let me make some notes on the colors pictured.
Blue silver star- looks like an ice blue snowflake
Hotside pink- looks more like pink and purple at the same time!
Cellini red- more like hot pink
Crystal ice- bright shiny silver white
Cellini Yellow is a lot lighter yellow than the canary Yellow
Gold rush like a yellow gold and gold mirage is like white gold (I add the mirage to my gold glitter for my "all over" glitter. get it!)
Tibetian ocre- my favorite. it is a pinky earth color and is stunning to use for henna-type freehand.

Amerikan Body Art has a summer clearence sale on micas. You can get the personal size normally $3.50 for $1 & the pro size normally like $9 for $3!

Well, let's convert that all into price per gram and see which works out best.
CS= 12- 17 cents per gram (depending on color choice)
Maggie's source= 50 cents per gram
ABA normal size (full price)= $1.16
ABA normal size (clearance)= 33 cents
ABA Pro (full price)= 33 cents
ABA Pro (clearance)= 10 cents!

The winner is Amerikan Bodyart clearance colors with coastal scents a close second. I checked out the Coastal scents site a little further, and the one oz size (that's 28.34 gm) does come in a jar!

Wanted to update!

Was on SF and looking at mica there. Each pot is 0.19 lbs. $9.00

0.19 lb = 86.1825 g

Which, if I'm doing the math right...

$9 divided by 86.1825g = $0.10/g!

AND I don't have to pay extra shipping for ordering from a different website

Next question: flat "Pure Black" or shiny "Obsidian"?

And I think I've confused myself. Can someone please confirm whether or not I was right?!

(I've got about 7 tabs open to different glitter/mica sites and my brain hurts, haha.)

Black seems to leave a shadow unless I leave the stencil on...wonder if the Shiny Obsidian would? I have the Holographic Black (from CS, & can't remember if that's the exact name or not right now)--but it is actually more of a dark grey w/flecks in it & I don't like it for tatts like I thought I would from the description.

Has anyone ordered the ABA mica from SF? I've totally confused myself.

The top of the page lists the jar as 0.9oz, but the description lists it as 0.19lbs. According the the conversions calculator online, 0.19 lb = 3.04000 oz, which is clearly not the same as 0.9oz.

How big is the dang thing?!

I would assume that the ABA mica that sillyfarm sells is the same size that they sell on the ABA site. The ABA pro size is 30 g (about 1 oz). It doesn't make sense that they would package it any differently for SF. If I had to guess, I'd say that the 0.9 oz is the amount of Mica and the .19 lb is the shipping weight (that includes the jar).

Oh. That would make sense. Thanks Sophie! I posted on the SF FB page yesterday, and they posted/commented on other wall posts, but not mine...grr. lol.

In which case, that whole $0.10/gr thing I posted earlier is a lie, haha.
