Re: Post Submissions Here!
My standard quick skull. Not so fancy, but it works.
* I used DFX white on a sponge to cover most of the face, leaving out room around the eyes.
* Black on the other end of the sponge, above the eyes.
* The white end of the sponge was used for blending.
* Same technique used on the rest of the skull.
* #1 Diamond Arcade brush was used for lines.
* Try to look like scary way to early in the morning =)

Tools:
sponges, round brushes #2-4, which ever you are most comfortable with.
2 colors of face paint, a lighter and darker of the same color family.
black, white, and red (or pink if you skip showing the regular skull face)
1)You can do this skull in almost any color, except for pink, since then the brain would blend in.
choose a light color and a darker color in the same group. I think white and gray, lt. blue and dark blue, and lt. or lime green and dark green work great!
lay down the light color and blend in the shadows for your skull.
2)In black, Add in eye sockets,
3)then the space between the "teeth" and jaw on the sides of the mouth
4)In black, using a round brush, paint in the nose opening
5)In white, place the white shapes of the teeth and outline them in black, using a round brush for both.
6)In black, using a round brush, add the lines for the jaw and forehead then place the white shapes of the teeth and outline them.
***IMPORTANT: I do it this way so the child can see the skull without the brain showing, and ask if he or she wants it to be scarier. If they say no, then I leave it that way. If they say "YES!" I continue. I don't want it to be too scary for the child. If an older child or adult you can lay down pink for the brain in the beginning when you sponge on the light and dark base color.
7)Now, take your red or pink (red works best with light blue or white, pink is good for green , use your judgement, you know how the colors blend) and lay down the shape of the "brain".
With your round brush use black to create a jagged edge on the skull so it looks like the skull was broken open and create squiggles on the brain and cracks on the skull. If you want to go nuts make a spider or worms or other yucky things!
This design doesn't take as long as you'd think

Re: Post Submissions Here!
I posted a picture of my daughter painted as a skull in my gallery. I didn't know how to do it on here.
I used all Snazaroo
-started with a base coat of white
-than a coat of yellow overtop
-did the eyes with orange, and anywhere else i wanted shading
-followed up with red to create more texture and detail
-a burgandy for definition
-then black and white for highlighting and outlines
I got the idea from a flaming skull on the gas tank of a motor cycle

Re: Post Submissions Here!
Okay I think I am somewhat inept with this photo posting thing so here's the link to a snapfish album I made for my skull.
http://www1.snapfish.com/thumbnailshare/AlbumID=748875012/a=103829408_103829408/otsc=SHR/otsi=SALBlink/COBRAND_NAME=snapfish/
It's nothing fancy, as it is literally the 7th or 8th thing I have painted ever...(I am JUST starting out, but figured as I have bare bones supplies and even less money, I'd make an attempt, lol)... so it was more go with the flow than anything. It's on myself...I wanted to do one on my little bro, but funny enough he didn't want his face painted that night. I did his face as a skull the other day but didn't have step by step photos.
Anyway, I sponged on Starblend white for base.
Then I sponged on Paradise black in the eye sockets.
I used a 2 round for the nostrils.
10 round for the cheekbone line on each side, meeting at the corner of the lips...and I filled in the lower lip only. I used a sponge to shade the outer part of the face below the cheekbones.
I made the skull smile with a 2 round for the tooth lines, then added some cracks at the top of the skull.
Then I added a bullet hole and a little blood (Snazaroo red with black dabbed lightly over the hole). I figured at least we'd know how the skull came to be a skull, lol.
Added a cowboy hat for fun just because my dad had it sitting there and he was playing with it, so I did too. I got a pic without the hat in the way though.
