What can I do with the black/grey/white artycake? Empty Face and body painting one stroke roses

Post by LillyW Tue Jun 07, 2011 3:30 am

Jinny inspired this one, I did it with a Prisma cake. I really struggled with it.
I perfer to use the DFX ones.

I use it for a gothic dragon. Sorry, can't find a pic right now and don't have the time for facepainting an example.

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE it as a 'round the eyes' mask with one stroke roses and a few starbursts.

Those are also great to use where you might just outline in black. It gives a sweet gradient which is more true to life. Wish I had a picture for example, but just next time you do a cat, dog or tiger, use the black/grey for where you would do black and white/grey for where you might do white. It works really well.

Think these may help - this is what Jinny does with the prisma cakes..... the black and white looks really nice done as an adult arm design.... some roses and butterflys with some glitter.... really nice and tasteful.

Wow, those are beautiful - thank you so much for the photos and tips! I love you

I have a little boy visiting tomorrow who always asks to be a tiger, think I will try your tip on him, Metina! Very Happy

How do I learn how to make those gorgeous big roses? Are those cabbage roses? They are stunning and I agree the b/w makes them look so elegant....

Here is a link for a QUICK puppy for squirmies that I do with the Magpie cake. Not that impressive, but it works and is cute.

The Roses are the same ones Donna Dewberry or Rebecca uses. You use a flatbrush for them.

I used it for easy wings. I made a youtube video for Marvelous Masks one-stroke contest. It only took minutes and looks cool. I want to try an angel mask with it.

What can I do with the black/grey/white artycake? Empty How to Face Paint One-Stroke Roses

Just go to You-Tube and type in one-stroke roses. Then practice, practice, practice!!!

This one looks so full because there are extra strokes. Not hard Smile)

What can I do with the black/grey/white artycake? Rose_b11

Compare it to this one, which does not seem as full. It just has a few less petals Smile

Hope that helps Smile

I use it to make pointy teeth (like for a dino or shark) with shadows using a smaller flat brush loading mostly white and very little gray and then turning to load the black on the very edge next to the gray. Start with the brush on it's flat tip (not just flat) black/gray side pointing up, but paint with the white edge only (darker side lifted in the air a bit) pulling up to paint he left side of an inverted "V" and then bring the entire flat tip down (darker side , too) to paint the right side of the "V." Once you get the hang of it, it's really easy to do a row of pointy teeth this way and no need to outline or shadow!

OK with this thread in mind I got out my black/grey/white prisma and had a go for the first time..... sorry the pic's are on strange angles, it's hard to take pics of your own arm with your phone -(explains the pic quality too)
Oh yeah I also got carried away and painted it too big to be able to get it all in one shot.... anyway it was really fast, and fun.
