Just got my copy of wolfe fx's Wild Faces and heres what i have tried so far

i was wondering if anyone has any advice on controlling the sponges. also if there is a difference in the sponges specifically for face painting and the ones you can pick up from a craft store like michael's.

Yes... and no. Which ones at Michael's are you talking about? They sell a variety (not usually specifically for face painting) - the ceramic sponges are the round amber ones and are close to some of the face painting ones BUT I found that they crumbled after several uses.

The best inexpensive sponge that is the right consistency (pretty much the same as the high density face painting sponges) is a car wash sponge - the large peanut shaped ones. They are $1 or $2 at the dollar store and you can cut them up into smaller pieces and the work really well.

And the paintings are good copies from the book!! Nice job.
