Face painters are like parents to all

Hello from Colorado. My name is Laurie, My husband is Andy (married 23years)& we have 2 girls and 1 boy. I have been lurking for almost 5 months. The kindnesses shown on this forum are examples of the way we could change the world. Its like a global village mentality, all the support and encouragement is so inspiring.

My sister and I run a school (this is a live in volunteer program no income) with 40 teenagers (:)lots of practice faces) from all over the world. We teach the concept of being a global citizen/volunteerism. Last Dec. I had a stroke, and thought my life was over. At 45 I thought, my children have lost their mom. Well after an enormous amount of love and support from my family/students. I now feel like I have begun the second part of my life.

I spend a lot of time practicing on my arm and legs till the wee hours of the night. I am totally addicted. Reading this forum and learning as much as I can for now. I was scared to get out and go public. Listening to all of you, gave me the courage to go to our local flea market and just paint children. I got there and there was another face painter already there, but because i feel so connected to face painters through this forum(i know.lurking) I went right over introduced myself and met two more face painters since then. Now we are deciding to up our price together. My husband will begin with his airbrushing this weekend. And I am making contacts with future customers.

I realize this is long and drawn out, but I really wanted you to know me, and I look forward to getting to know all of you. Thanks

Hi Laurie.. My name is Haney and I am from Singapore. I have been doing face painting for 6 months now. Yes I agree with u face painting is addictive..Lol! My 8 & 9 yrs old kids are my main model for my practice and also they all over my website. To me face painting is very very therapeutic. It helps "drown my sorrows" Lol! I don't drink and so I paint.. Smile

Welcome to the forum Laurie! I'm glad face painting has helped you w/ your healing process! We've got a little in common. I've been married for 23 yrs also & love teaching kids(I homeschool & have taught homeschool art before). Have fun & thank you for coming out of the lurking crowd!
