size question

Ok not sure if the title matches my question or not but I am wondering how you determine the three different sizes of face painting for prices.

Cheek art is obvisouly what is says, a small piece on the cheek, hand or arm

Half face - now what do you think is half face? Are masks?

Full face - I can see that a tiger is a full face but what about if you do something like a dog with the ears, nose and mounth but nothing on the cheeks?

Here are a few pictures that I would like to know what you all think or would price them as.

Okay. Im assuming that this would be for events. I tried this same method and was stuck to, so on the last event I just posted a sign that said face painting $1-$7 and on my choice book using small labels price each according to design. It made things a lot easier for me. I know it doesnt answer your question, but it gives another option.

What I've done is, instead of describing them by size, I have my pictures labelled with an A or a B and my sign then says "A" designs $5, "B" designs $8

I price my designs not according to size, but to how long it takes me to do them. So sometimes a larger design would be in the mid-price range, and sometimes cheek art is in the upper range. No one questions the prices and this way I'm not irritated doing a thousand complicated cheek art designs for $3.

I agree with Angie...sometimes a small 'but highly detailed' cheek art can take much longer than a full face design.

I'd label them according to how long it takes you to paint them, not just by size.

Angie, say for instance in your album you have a Zebra, is that a half face or a full face. Then the ogre eyes, what you say for that one?

I'd have the zebra priced as a full face, because it takes a long time to do, and also because it does take up a good portion of the face. The ogre would be a half face. It's super quick.

If I were to price according to size, here's how I'd do it: Anything small (3 sq inches or less) of course would be cheek art. Anything that extends over 1/3 of the face would be a half face. This would be something like a crown, and ogre, something across the forehead, over the mouth like a frog, or down one side of the face, etc. Then a full face would be anything more than 1/3 of the face. A butterfly, elaborate mask, my zebra, cat faces, batman or spiderman eyes, and others. Even though a mask doesn't cover the entire face, it's more than a "half face" because it takes up over a large area of the face. That sounds confusing, but it's a good way to decide which category designs fall into.

Cheek Art (or lower priced):
Small Flowers
Small Butterflies
Dolphins
Cherries
Simple Mustaches
Etc

Half Face (or mid-priced):
Crowns
One-Eye Designs
Ogres
Frog Mouths
Snakes (that twine around the ear and down face)
Any small design that includes lips being painted
Pirate Patchs
Etc

Full Face (or upper-priced):
Cats
Dogs
Butterflies
Eye masks
Spiderman
Batman masks
Anything that covers most of a face
