Re: My Logo is here!
I think it does a great job of communicating a specific style.
And I know how much effort goes into deciding on a "brand" and figuring out what you want to convey, so please do not take this comment as rude.
I would have a hard time figuring out what your company is all about from your logo.
How long have you been in the face painting biz? I ask because it might help us understand where you want to go from here

Re: My Logo is here!
I think it has a very bohemian artsy vibe. It probably will appeal more to the body art side of things because it's kind of grown-uppy looking with the earthtones. If you brighten up the colors it would push it in the other direction I think. It just depends on who your target is. Either way, I think the design is great!
Re: My Logo is here!
thanks for the compliments!
Heff I am new to the business, My plan is to get more into body painting. I would like to work mostly with adults and companies.
I still have a lot to learn but this is my goal!
I dont see your comment rude at all! I was, and STILL asking for critique!
Geeko- I am glad to hear your input cuz it is pretty much summarizes what i was trying to project!
I really would love to hear anything! "Bad" or "good" its all helpful for me!!

Re: My Logo is here!
I like it - it is unique and striking. You should check into trademarking it!
I don't think that a logo necessarily has to say what you do - look at IBM, Proctor & Gamble and Apple... you can't tell from looking at their logos what it is they do!
And I agree that changing the colours will make it fit in better in different markets. So you could have maybe three colour variations to fit different targets.

I can tell it's face painting, but I'm familiar with face painting, but the Face & Body Artist under the logo makes it work.
Re: My Logo is here!
I love it! I think it would look good in blues and violets to match your "personality" (as shown on your avatar), but the earth tones look awesome too!
Re: My Logo is here!
I think is great! You can tell it is geared towards the adults. I agree with the others about changing the colors if you want it to be targeted to different markets.

Certainly not necessarily.
However, when you compare Coke, Apple etc. to bootstrapping face & body artists you have to notice the differences and how to apply the lessons learned from them.
Mega-companies have mega marketing departments and corresponding budgets to get their branding images out there. The very fact that you mentioned those companies means that their marketing worked extremely well to make you remember the companies and their logos off the top of your head.
Therefore, they can afford to have a logo that has nothing to do with their actual product or service.
We are face painters. The first (and usually only) time a potential customer sees our logo is at the top of our website, or on our cards, or even on our t-shirts (maybe on a car wrap ). Customers do not want to be surprised or confused about what you stand for.
They don't want to have to feel dumb. They want to feel smart.

Re: My Logo is here!
I think it's awesome! It reflects your personality, your style, and what you do. It will work in full color, grayscale, and black and white. It will work in all different sizes, too (for printing.) Good job!
Re: My Logo is here!
Heff, I'm just curious, what about the design doesn't look face painty to you? Does it look like a logo for some other type of buisness that I'm not thinking of?

The graphic of the tiger's eyes and stripes is ambiguous to someone who doesn't know that tigers are out most common design (besides butterflies).
To a birthday mom who has an idea that she might want to have a face painter at her kid's party, the tiger face doesn't mean much. The only face painting she remembers are the hearts& stars at the school festival.
Now, since Inca indicated she wants to move more toward adults& body painting (which is more artsy fartsy and less cut & dry than parties) then she could consider the tiger face to be related to her actual style. If the tiger gives a real first impression of what her clients should expect when she body paints then that is different.
Another thing to keep in mind is who are the clients going to be for body painting? I live near Baltimore and D.C. so my area is both metropolitan and wealthy. However, there is not a large paying pool of clients who are willing to pay for body painting. Night club owners, fetish stores, biker clubs... that's about it. Around Halloween there are individuals who will inquire about body painting but I prefer to focus marketing efforts (kincludoing logos) toward my ideal clients.
So Inca needs to think about what she wants to say very clearly about herself as a body painter with her logo.
Re: My Logo is here!
I agree with Michelle and everything she said, BUT with one difference of opinion - you are creating a brand that is something that can also be flexible and still memorable to you. If you branch out to product, this is a great logo and I think it would look great on a banner, box, car or t-shirt. Maybe in order to avoid confusion, The Face and Body Artist should be bolder. It can also translate to other artforms. Overall, I like it. I have never managed to find a logo I like so good job!
