Design "book" Empty Design "book"

Post by LoneWolf Fri Dec 10, 2010 7:16 am

I realised that the one thing I love the most about facepainting is making new designs up. My plan is to make a complete "book" in two sections:
Themes: western, princess, pirate and so. Inspiration for when you are having either a theme event or a kid asking for something in that genre.
It will have something scary, some cute, complete face and part of face. Limited cheek art. But designs that can be made by a painter in 3-5 minutes.
Specific: dog breeds, big cats, Disney princess crowns. Designs for when you have a kid asking for a specific animal - like a bulldog or panther. And you can't quite remember how it looks.

The first post is Christmas and winter designs and they can be found here:
http://lone-wolf.dk/designs.html

They are free to use as inspiration or printing out when going on a job (just don't say you drew them)
I thought about making them as photos instead of drawings, but forgot about that for two reasons:
1) It will take forever to paint them all!
2) When as drawing you can use your own technique, so you can easier make them fit your personal style.

Hope you like them and will support the project. The next will be big cats =)

Thanks for sharing Lone! I especially love the design with the wind/snow flakes swirling up from the fir trees. Neat concept. Smile

Great idea Lone. I like that they're not photos, because as you said, it makes it easier to make it your style.

I wish I'd seen these yesterday! I taught 3 classes of kids today and picked what I wanted to demo so I could have some new Christmas faces for a party I'm doing tomorrow. I totally would have LOVED to paint the fierce present. That is hilarious! Those middle school kids would have gone nuts for that.

I painted your simple polar bear design the other day and love it too. It was so fast and easy.

Design "book" Ep106021

The 3 year old I painted on was pretty squiggly but he was sure still when he looked in the mirror. He was very happy Very Happy Your new design with the fish is great too.

'Jul' sure fits better on a cookie than 'Christmas' LOL. I've made lots of those checkered paper heart pockets back in the day. Thanks for reminding me of those, I'll have to try that with my kids now.

Your ideas are awesome!! Tusen hjertelig takk!

I'm having issues with some parents who don't want their kid's painted face on my poster. These sketches are a great idea. I can sketch my own and use those for a display. Thanks. They are wonderful.

I use drawings like this for my display board- keeps the "it's not like the picture" to a minimum, and gives a little wiggle room when the line gets long or I'm working with someone else. I love the polar bear! I have been trying to think of some way to break up the plain white face of it, and adding a little something below the chin is perfect. I'm going to try a friendlier bear with a bow tie... Thanks!

Thanks you. I now have had the designs with me to several jobs and they have pushed normal butterflies and skulls out in the cold ;-)

Magna: yes, some are very Danish in origin!

I have uploaded the big cats and a try at full face Disney princesses. Why don't they all just have a crown you can paint!!?
These are for the reference part of the book, so they are not designed to be painted as they are, but as a reminder if a lions nose is black or pink and those kind of things.
I have also uploaded my blank sketch page, there was one asking for that.

Think the next will be western or dogs. Not quite sure yet.

Three pages with western designs are up now and one with new years designs. Don't know if anybody work there, but guess you can always find somebody to paint on ;-)

Magna: Yes, Paypal is perfect =)

Seems the page is popular. It has been shown about 500 times since I made it, less than a week ago!

Not quite sure what theme to take next. Maybe farm animals, I promised a pig design so someone some time ago. But suggestions are also welcome.

You're a popular gal Lone! Very Happy

I just want to point out to folks that when you donate to Lone for her awesome ideas, her currency is Danish Kroner. It is over 5 Kroner to a Canadian Dollar, so if you want to donate around $10 that'd be approximately 50 Kroner. If we all give a little bit it'll encourage more ideas I bet. Very Happy
