train case?
do any of you use train cases for your paints? I need something to put my glitters and sponges in and extra paints that don't fit in my kit. (I have my kit full of palettes..)
anyway I have been looking at train cases because I think they are cute..
just curious if anyone has one and how it's working? what do you keep in yours? are the trays adjustable?

Re: train case?
I found this at the thrift shop for a pittance and the plastic tray lifts out. It doesn't have the fancy swing out trays which were upgrades in the 1960's. The color was boring so I painted it a decade ago with acrylics. It's a nifty storage container and currently holds over 60 small bottles of acrylic paint because Metina's Pro Tote replaced this for my overflow FP stuff. Eventually I will get around to painting it, too.

We both posted at the same time ; ) That photo on the link looks sorta like Erica's "Princess Party" case photo on Your Setup page.

Re: train case?
This is my case. I bought it second-hand from a hairdresser.
There are no trays in it at all.

Re: train case?
Jennifer Baxter gave me this scrapbooking backpack for the holiday exchange and I just adore it. My 11x17" display posters are in the back pocket, under the brushes & boxes. Now that the weather has changed to warmer here, I can actually wear it, instead of holding it by its top loup ; )

Winger1200 wrote:Wow, Anita that's a really nice case, with lotsa room.
The case is about 8 inch deep and 18 inch long.
The top cases ar about 4 inch deep.
Re: train case?
I'm happy to see you are making good use of it, and kinda bummed I didn't buy me one.
I had been eyeballing the extra big cases on wheels that pro makeup artists have, but they are usually $150... too steep for me. Then I found my fatmax. I have been considering adding glitter tats, but don't want to carry around extra stuff. So, basically, if it doesn't fit my current mode of transportation, I'm probably not going to jump on board just yet.

Re: train case?
You can buy aluminum train cases for a very reasonable price (around $20) at Home Depot! I found them in the cection that the rolling toolboxes are in. Also there is this site:

These are very nice and come in all sizes and color for reasonable prices

Re: train case?
I used two train cases for years and I loved em. I found one in a second hand store, brand new never been used, but paid $2.00. The other one I got from Walmart for $35.00, both are caboodles brand. Now my daughter uses one of them for her face paints.

Re: train case?
I used to have a caboodles case that I had for probably 20 years. Got rid of it in my move from AZ to MA though..(6 months before I started painting!) I used to be a nail tech once upon a time and it was for nail polish and acrylic stuff, it would have been perfect for my glitters and sponges! doh!
I think the one Anita posted is PERFECT and nice and big too for extra paints that don't fit in my other kit case box. I think I see it on the yazmo site for $69. But then there are so many others I like on there too! LOVE the scrapbook backpack too! So compact!

Re: train case?
I use the one Suzysparkles posted from Joann's though mine is an older model. It rolls very easily. What I like best is the front pocket is tall enough to hold my ice cube paint brush holder with the brushes in it and it doesn't squash the tips.
