fast, easy but great feathers

Hi

I'm having a hard time searching for suggestions on how to paint feathers - like eagle feathers. I thought I remembered reading a post that used a rake brush to get the desired effect but the search didn't bring anything up.

Was I dreaming?

Any suggestions or hints?

Now I know... I searched for 'feather' not 'feathers'..... ahhhhh you probably still do have the magic touch though! lol

nah, I just tried feathers when feather didn't work. But it is tricky when used to other systems that don't need the whole word to give you the answer

I like doing feathers with a split cake I made - am still working on it buy you get the idea - should have practiced it before doing the body, needs more dark edges...
Still, MUCH faster

Yes... never thought of a split cake. It gives a nice effect.

A bigger version of my avatar. It is really fast. Just an angle brush with white for the centre. Black/silver/grey for one site. White on the other, with a bit of black near the centre. The design took less than half an hour.

For white skin I would use a metal gold or something under.
