Used it yesterday at a gig (mom wasn't too happy I swiped one of her old eye cream containers) and LOVED IT! Where has this thing been all my life?! Mom liked it too, so I think she may forgive me Razz

Q!!! Do you use this just for dots or also for tear drops & linework? I'm very intrigued!

I used it for both. But, I did find that it set up a little and I was mainly just adding water to the lid and getting the paint really wet there rather than in the whole pot itself. Am I doing something wrong?

Metina thank you so much for this idea. I now get perfect dots every time and my white paint is not water logged trying to get dots and line work paint to live side by side.

So did you ever figure out if you were doing it wrong I want to try this but is it simply just for small details?

I found some neat containers for this.

A bead organizer that has little round pots.
I took two from the organizer... the others, I use to hold my glitters.

It works GREAT!

Those are awesome kat! I may go looking for some of those for when I want to re-make my dippy pots.

@Jessica I don't think I was really doing anything wrong per se... I thnk I'm still just so darn used to cakes that using more of a liquid paint will take some getting use to. But I've been practicing and I'm not using the lid as much anymore, so I think everything's all good Very Happy

This is a great idea! I usually just keep one corner of paint pot for dots ,but this will work much better! I'll try it in an empty glitter container...Thanks!

SO cool! I'm gonna try this too as soon as I get a chance. Thank you!!! I haven't even had time to practice for 3 weeks and it's starting to get to me. School is almost out and then I can play between the market days. bounce

I like that these are deeper than the glitter containers. Good find!

How do you keep your dippy pot from drying out on jobs?

This is a new concept to me. Apparently you are talking about keeping your white and/or black at a perfect consistency during an event so that you don't need to spray your paint cake...correct?
My question is this: I don't have DFX white, only Wolfe white, which is not crumbly to break into small pieces.
I want me a dippy pot, too, darn it!!! geek

My dippy pots are Wolfe - I used a small palette knife to take 3 good chunks of paint, and added about 3 drops of water from my dropper bottle, mixed it up to get it smooth (I didn't use boiling), and then let it dry out.... for each event I just add a drop or two of water at the beginning, then another one or two as needed depending on humidity, heat, evaporation.... let it dry out at the end, and there I go.... I use a container I got from a cosmetic company - but it looks like those acrylic paint pots that have the attached lids (that press on) - works great for me! I have it blue tacked to my board so it doesn't move around on me....

Monna (sounds like Donna), I found something better, though I don't have a picture of it.

At Hobby Lobby (other craft stores) and Walmart, in the craft section they have these little cups (the same size as above) with lids that fit tightly. They actually seal better, and don't leak as much as the ones above have.

I use them all the time.
They work GREAT!

I loved this idea so much that as soon as I read it I just had to make my own. I used lip balm pottles (unused) that I had gotten for bead storage. Thanks Smile

So I had to have some dippy pots, and I didn't want to buy containers. After some noodling, I realized I could use the little 10g rounds that came with my first DFX essential pallet. I had already used all the white and most of the black, so I had practically empty containers ready to do. Since they each have their own little lids, they worked perfect! Thanks for the tip, Metina.

This is genius! I'll have to try it... Only I'm reluctant to cut up parts of my lovely DFX paint... Has anyone tried it with Snazaroo?

Love the flower idea, I might make them in more than just black and white... Smile

I have the same containers that Kat has, I think I will make me some dippy pots as well! Since they are stackable and I have them in abundance, I might make a colored one too. I do pink dots a lot, and light blue.. hmmm.. gears turning
