I think this is a pretty good start for next year. I have a tendency to be over-ambitious.

Here is the link to print your own buisness cards free, i bought some nice thick paper that would still go through my printer and just filled out the form and printed them off.

hope this helps with one of the things on your list

Thing is with home printed business cards is that they look like you printed them... the give away is the paper, the edges, and the fact that toner and printer inks fade horribly.

If you are just starting out, sure, by all means - you need to get your card out there BUT also, getting professionally printed ones is so much better and Vista Print is even FREE so you don't even need to buy the paper...

I did the home printing route in the beginning like a lot of people but was never satisfied with them.

I just finished checking out your new site....Amazing! Enjoyed all the pics, very easy to view, very informative, professional but creative! You asked us to proofread for ya...on the section/page titled, Courses...you've added a extra R. You have coursers and it should be Courses. Thats all I noticed...like I said earlier, awesome site, you should be very proud of it! If I were in Denmark and needed an artist...you'd be it! Very Happy

Wow- glad you reminded us about this!

1. Go to a convention. Went to LaFete in March!
2. Get a domain name and move my webpage to the new site. Oops... not yet!
3. Design and mail out postcards to advertise. Mailed out around 200 but haven't done any in a while... need to send some more out.
4. Practice, practice, PRACTICE!!!!! Since my youngest daughter refuses to let me paint her anymore, and my oldest has now moved to college, I guess I'll have to learn how to practice on myself

Post by Psalmbook Wed Aug 18, 2010 8:05 am

I just updated mine & I actually think I need a new one. Most my goals have been reached & exceeded & I need a new set! I've even done more than what was on my goal sheet!

My new Goals till the end of the year:

1) Build the Jam to be strong & network w/ other painters in my area. Didn't take off
2) Build the Prenatal Painting part of my business Still working on this
3) Get into more contests Doing this
4) Get good enough & find a venue to teach(my other passion) Still working on this
5) Get better at getting repeat customers I'm getting better at marketing & repeat jobs
6) Improve my website(I'm at a loss on how to add more pages:-) Still stalled out here
7) Research on how to bring teaching face painters to Jax for classes. Tried to bring a few in but had a lack of interest from the locals
Cool Practice, Practice, Practice(always) Looked at my beginning of the yr stuff till now & wow has it gotten a lot better!
9) Again, to always remember to keep my faith while pursuing face painting & remember where my talent came from. God's been good!
10) Next year, do another mission trip & another missions face painting event

Post by Guest Wed Aug 18, 2010 8:34 pm

Well... let's see how I'm doing:

- Increase income (ALWAYS an annual goal!): On track thanks to a couple of large events!

- get my next book DONE... The SBS one... taking a lot of time to get all the painting done, so I'm a bit behind on my deadline... : Still in progress. My time has been tied up with caring for mom and other things since her stroke in January.

-to run Camp Fennell in the summer (still waiting on a couple of festivals to confirm dates so I can set the dates for the camp!) See above... hoping to set this up for next year.

- review my business plan as usual and update as necessary Done.

- be a little more agressive in my marketing - there are more painters in the area than there used to be and I need to be a little more diligent about targetting "new" customers. See above.

- get to one major event/convention/workshop myself to learn new things. See above.

Due to family circumstances my priorities changed for this year. I am still promoting and marketing as usual, just not initiating anything new.

I think I did okay...
* FABAIC was good, skill level increased, superfun roommates.
* Did the business card thing... and have re-designed them with some of my work on them. Yay!
* More comfortable with tribals, still working on the nothings. I do a decent job, I'm wanting stellar.
* I've pretty much left my paint alone. I like the empty snaz jumbo palettes. I just wish they were sturdier and black.
* Still no jamming with the locals, but I've been buddying with them on the facebook, and we send jobs to each other sometimes.
* I've jumped way into the bodypainting, have about two projects each month, and have even had two paid jobs.
* Did more glitter, super fun
* No festivals this year... health issues
* Don't need to figure out full timeage yet, as I don't want to right now.

So, fess up... How did everyone do?

My 2010 old and amended list:

Kristal wrote:*Get the new website up and running [color=red]DONE[color]

*Have printable invite inserts available DONE
*Add new support to my tool box so I can take my chair to gigs DONE

*Work more events than last year DONE! (Hit triple digits this year! Granted, there were a couple of cancellations, but I'd also done a few non-invoiced events so it more or less evened out.)
*Make more money than last year! DONE! (Spent more as well, but that's not the point, lol.)
*New Thank You postcards - design and orderDONE

Also:

*Sew balloon bag cover No...but I did sew my chair cover!
*Order removal cards DONE
*Research and apply for business credit card Some research, but haven't decided yet

Not mentioned but I also:

*Painted 4 bellies
*Took a workshop with Lucie and did my first body painting!
*Went to my first convention
*Opened a business bank account
*Was mentioned (with photos/correct name/business name) in an online newspaper
*Basically chose fp and balloons over acting, and sometimes feel like I'm missing a couple of limbs and half my heart, but I know I chose what's right for me (now)
*Nixed costumes

I need to think of what I want for 2011 and put that in the other thread Smile
