Car Magnet Ruined my Van:-(

I've used car magnets from Vistaprint for years. I just changed out my latest one & notices the paint under the magnet has bubbled. I live in FL & I'm sure it has something to do with the moisture & heat we have here. It's an older model van, so I'm going to keep using the magnet, but when I get a new vehicle I'll need to find a way that won't ruin it. I thought ya'll would want to know so you don't have the same thing happen.

Linda; the directions tell you to remove the magnet every 3 or so days and clean the area. I have 10 magnets on my van.

I only use mine when I go on a job...i should drive around daily with it though...but I always take it off when I get home as dirt can get under it and scratch the paint

Like anything it will mess up the colour too over time.
The sun will fade the regular paint colour all over the car, but won't fade under the magnet.

Not true (for Vistaprint magnets at least.) I am always re-ordering them because they fade and peel. Luckily, Vistaprint offers such fantastic email deals that I get them for free almost all the time, paying only shipping, of course.)

And be careful how you clean them... only use water.

Glad I saw this thread. I'm getting a car of my own in January and getting some magnets is one of the first things I want to do. What I'd really love is a car wrap but my current budget is better suited to free vistaprint stuff.

We ALL want car wraps!!!!... but only a few on here have them...

if you have the magnet in the same place all the time.. the cars paint will eventually fade, but that spot under the magnet won't.. so when you take the magnet off the patch doesn't match the rest of the car.

OOoooo wraps.. i should post up what my bf did for me.. we got a vinyl cutter i may have mentioned.. for my b-day he snuck outside and pimped my ride

The Vista Print magnets are the lightweight. So if you live in an extreme weather area, or do alot of highway travel opt for more expensive heavy weight magnets as the lightweight ones will blow off your vehicle.

Do however take advantage of Vista Print deals.

I'm pulling this up from the depths... but has anyone done window vinyl? I have a cricut.... thinking about cutting vinyl and sticking it to my window!

I have vinyl on my van windows! Love it! I get tons of people asking for my card.



But now that I have a new vehicle, and my sister is driving my van around, I need to have new ones done.
