Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
Hello! I hope everyone is having an awesome start to the week!
This is my first attempt at Lisa Joy Young's unicorn. I realize that I need a tonne of practice in general but my question for today is...
How do you fix a mistake? My daughter moved while I was trying to do the jowl on the unicorn, and I ended up with a big black blob. I did my best to try to blot it right away, and then cover it with more white, but... as you can see, it didn't do much good. I'd LOVE some pointers!

Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
If you have time, wipe it off, if not, make a star and lots of glitter
Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
i just put a wet wipe over the tip of my figure and get it off totally (the mistake), then repaint and fix it.
Your daughter is a doll...that face!!! What a great subject for pictures!

Yup. I badly messed up a soccer ball on the weekend. I looked at it, said "Sorry buddy, I made a mistake, do you mind if I start again so it looks great?" wiped it off and did it again. You can certainly use the corner of a babywipe or a damp q-tip to fix a smudge or blob.... Or merrily paint over the top depending on where the mistake is.
Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
I like pointy q-tips that you can find by manicure supplies. Dampen one of those and you can precisely erase mistakes.
Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
Mistakes are best fixed with a baby wipe. Just redo and practice.
The vast majority of designs you find on You Tube are not the posting artists original designs. They therefore can not and should not be credited as such.

So....what I'm getting from your words, Perry, is....if I understand correctly....?Perry Noia wrote:GLITTER GLITTER AND MORE GLITTER!!!!!!
GLITTER!!!!
Does that about cover it?*
I tend to wrap a baby wipe around either my finger or a cotton bud (q-tip), depending on the size of the mistake. If it's really not fixable, then I'll do the same as PaintedFaces, admit I've gone wrong, and start that part of the design again. I find it very hard to remove small areas of black because it's so opaque it just keeeeeeeeeeeeps spreading when I'm trying to remove a little bit. So I'd probably have to wipe away a whole section if that happened.
But of course, more glitter is always a good thing, too.

Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
I was having some issues the other day. i had luck with wetting the end of a q tip. instead of trying to wipe with it, i placed it on the spot i wanted off and twisted. Then dabbed with the dry end and it left a little paintless circle

Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
Oops, in my excitement to post this pic, I forgot to ask...
The white wings, aren't staying white very long, they tend to pick up the colours of the rainbow cake. I am using Snazaroo, classic white. Is this a snazaroo thing, or is this what happens with all brands?
thanks!

Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
It's a Snazaroo thing, although there are people who use snaz exclusively. I use Wolfe white and it seems to be much more opaque.
Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
Great unicorn! The white thing happens to me too, I use TAG regular white. I'm guessing the wetness of the white is re-activating the colour underneath. I've yet to master it but I believe (from reading tips on here) to get a more creamy white rather than wet.

Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
I can barely paint on anyone else's face - I can't imagine trying it on my own. It could get really ugly really quickly

Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
That looks great!! I use q-tips or baby wipes, just last night I messed up a rainbow one-stroke and took the whole thing Off with a baby wipe. It's definetly a snaz thing. If you have a michaels by you , try the tulip white with a coupon of course, it's very similar and I really like it, or bite the bullet and order a Wolfe black and white, it will savd you frustration and it looks great on line wOrk.
Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
I try not to paint a white unicorn over any color underneath. I'm my phone so I don't have any pics but ill try to remember to post one later. Basically, I leaved self a spot between the Pegasus wings to paint the head. Even using Wolfe white, some under color often bleeds through.

Re: Feedback please - how to fix mistakes
I use Snazaroo too (it's the only brand I can get near my town) and I HATE HATE HATE Snaz white for line work (is not too bad for bases though). White always picks up other colours when I paint over them and it's a pain (as in my Venom, my white lines over black always end like grey lines ).
