Re: Gay Pride Festival
I am signing up for both the Pride parade and The Gay Picnic here in Rochester so your ideas are so helpful, thank you. I already have some of the stencils from Faketoos - what a great company!! I am ordering more but have no idea how many I should have on hand for a large picnic like we have here in Rochester NY? Any thoughts? Its mid July so usually hot so the glitter might be the better seller.

Re: Gay Pride Festival
The most popular of the faketoos for me were the Super G and Super L but I got dinged by a guy who wanted Super T (that was not available, or I would have purchased it) you might ask for that one to be made!
Re: Gay Pride Festival
Ashley, I am not worried that it will be a bust here, Rochester has an amazing gay population and I know an awful lot of them
What made it a bust for you though? Just no one wanted anything?

Re: Gay Pride Festival
This is an old post but I figured I would share my experience. I went to pride last year in st. louis.. before we went to the park we had a bbq / party and my friends were doing simple little rainbow flags with marker.. I then went to car and got my kit and did a simple club eye on myself.. well thats what i call them lol.. used rainbow colors on the base and just did a random swirly eye design.. they loved it and everyone wanted one.. while at the park people kept asking where we was getting them... Soooo before i got way too drunk i brought my bag out and painted people just for fun.. The majority of people i painted liked what I had so i pretty much did "club eyes" all day.. Didnt really do many rainbows, but incorporated the rainbow colors into the eye designs. Leopard print and tribal designs was the only other things i was really asked for. I only painted for like an hour or so but I had a blast.

Hi Josh8596, thank you for this. I have a friend that is asking me to go and paint at this festival this year. i think is in Philadelphia. Would it be too much to ask you to post any of these Club eyes?
Re: Gay Pride Festival

Re: Gay Pride Festival
thats great.. I've been actually looking for some ideas for this too.. We are pretty small and don't really have a festival. But we have a small parade.
I'm thinking of have a float or entry of some full body paintings.. have 2 full rainbow designs in the works.. will probably throw a fairy in there if i have time.
The issue here is topless, even with paint is a no no.. Even nipple shields would be pushing it.. I have ideas potentially tho
I was watching something on Faba TV where she was going to use a custom foam latex prosthetic that acts as a nipple shield but covers way more of the boob..

Re: Gay Pride Festival
So Glad I came across this topic, it prompted me to check and see if my city (Nashville) had an event. They have a Pride Fest coming up on June 15th and are gonna let me set up for $25.! (WHOOT!)
Since I’m solo, should I hire a friend to do glitter tattoos to handle some of the crowd? the greedy person in me says I can do it all myself, but the customer service person in me is saying the crowds may get tired of waiting around while I do both face Painting and glitter tattoos. I have a 9 yr. old daughter that can do them but, but not sure how the public would feel about that.

Re: Gay Pride Festival
Thats awesome., im trying to decide if im going to go to pride in Nashville this year or go to Stl again. If it was me painting tho., I would def bring someone with. If for nothing else, at least to have them there to talk with the next customer in line to get figured out what they want, color schemes, and stuff like that. You could do all the painting, and glitter tattoos yourself, but it flows smoother when the person gets to the chair and is like .. this is what i want.

Re: Gay Pride Festival
Actually it’s $50, not $25. (that was a fest. further away in Cookeville, TN) still very cheap. I always have my husband and daughter when I do festivals. She is only 9 but very social and enetertaining. She finds out what they want and my husband collects the money.
Re: Gay Pride Festival
Sounds like you have it made then. I would just do all of the painting and things yourself then. I hope it all goes well for you.. im sure you will have a blast. Maybe if i end up coming to Nashville ill see your booth and you can paint a fellow painter

Re: Gay Pride Festival
That would be awesome Josh. I have never actually been to the Festival in the past, but I’m SO looking forward to it. I’m a native New Yorker so I love diversity. My husband is from a VERY small town in Iowa, he may be a bit uncomfortable, but too damn bad! I have had to pry his mind open a little at a time since we met 14 yrs ago, it’s about time we swing that door all the way open. Of course the fest here will be quiet tame compared to NY, but that’s good because I’m trying to expose him, not give him a heart attack.
Re: Gay Pride Festival
I did one of our Pride events last year. I believe this year they have consolidated into one event.
I haven't signed on because it is so hot when they hold it. Last year I made myself sick from being out in the heat, and everyone was so sticky and sweaty, it made things difficult.
Anyways, here is my album on facebook for ideas. I did many more, but didn't get photos of all. Most everyone wanted rainbow colors incorporated into the designs. The ones on the arm that are flaglike I did the most of, that and the eye designs.
Glitter tattoos did really well also. Faketoos carries some great Pride stencils, they went over well with attendees.

Re: Gay Pride Festival
The most popular of the tattoos we offered were the Pride Flag, Male/Male symbol, and Female/Female symbol.
Lips went over really well too.
Good luck!
