Re: face paint over lip
It depends on how much you care about hygiene really.
Technically, there's a higher chance of spreading germs if you're touching multiple kids' mouthes with the same paintbrush. You could always use one brush per child, but that would mean you would need a lot of brushes and constantly be washing them and letting them dry before another use. Or just use q-tips or disposible applicators.
I use this lip palette with a disposible q-tip for each child. http://www.coastalscents.com/makeup/palettes/66lippalette.html
It's actually on sale right now... Maybe I'll get a second one!
Aside from hygiene, I personally don't like having face paint on my lips. I've painted my lips with Wolfe blue and it made my lips tingle and go numb within minutes... so I'm not sure if it's good to apply it to lips.

I have the numb problem too...does anyone know officially what causes that? I don't think it's an allergic reaction because I don't have any peeling or swelling. I really need to get Janna's lip pallet I guess...don't know what to do about tiger lips though.
I wish we could figure out that ingredient and remove it.

It is make-up... use it where ever you want. Just use it hygeinically.
I use clean brushes on every person so I just use the brush in my hand, and then it is cleaned and sanitized before I reuse it.
And frankly... I think reusing sponges and brushes on different people is a whole lot more likely to be transferring snot and bodily fluids than a quick swipe on the lips would.

True dat, Shannon.
btw.... I got to use a new product last night that was suggested to me for painting lips; I hated Q-tips because they unravel and soak up the paint and then nothing comes out on the lips.
I now have Q-tips Precision Tips... they were hard to find, found them at Walgreens after trying many other stores. The cotton tip is wound tightly and doesn't come apart. The point makes it super easy to paint even the tiniest little set of lips. Score!

Re: face paint over lip
Yup I have that same palette and it rocks.
I use those same applicators too.
I don't like putting face paint on the lips because it tastes nasty.

Re: face paint over lip
The only time I put FP on lips is with a sponge (which I use only once and then it goes in my bin to be washed at home-I do that with all my sponges). For lipstick, I have 2 smaller NYX pallettes that I apply with a cotton swab (gets thrown out after 1st use). I wonder how hygienic some of the other face painters are around here, because the parents look shocked when I use a fresh Sponge each child, use disposable items on their kids' lips and change my water so frequently.
Re: face paint over lip
FWW( that's Fantasy World Wide in case people are not familiar with the brand) is the BEST for putting on lips, lasts long too.

Speaking of Fantasy-Worldwide....
Does anyone use their fixing powder? What do you think of it? When do you use it? Is it worth it?

Re: face paint over lip
I only do that when I am painting my kids, at parties I always tell the kids when they ask me to, that later the will drink and eat and the paint will go!, I am agree with Janna that way is easy to spread germs from kid to kid, Shelley I love you avatar!!
