I found out that they were discontinuing the Tulip face paints at JoAnn's and I bought out their black and white (and a teal which was really stainy) oh, and silver too...anyway....

The Tulip black is rinsing right off. I kid you not. I'm getting staining with TAG gray, purple, green, brown, etc. but the black lines are washing right off. My store had it down to 3.97 which isn't great but I like that I can practice with the black on my head and not stain.

It's not as creamy as other blacks so I'm having to add water more but it goes on really well.

She's already a mess! Smile But I have practiced more tonight than ever before.

D.

Re: Cleaning stains off practice heads.... Nail polish with acetone gets stains off well. Tea-tree oil also works!
I learnt on another thread that spraying on a decent coat of hairspray and let it dry before painting makes it soooooooo much easier to wash off! Try it, I promise it works.

I'm interested in these heads with slip on faces... are the faces reusable?

To wash DFX black off mannequin face use Goo Gone Extreme.
Warning: it will remove her eyes too, but it gets the stains.
P.S. I gave my head a buzz haircut to get rid of the pesky hair. Lol
Would post a pix but can't figure out how from iPhone.

I think the ProKnows Practice Head is the easiest to work with. The texture allows for better strokework practice and you get a flat side too. Also the easiest to clean. That said I use my Mehron Practice Head most often simply because after more than 10 yrs it's juts always there. I did get a free head and gave away another free head at FABAConvention in Las Vegas last year. There was a big lot of head used by stylists available for participants.

The best practice head is one you can get your hands on - and really the one you use.

For those you think that $25 or $50 is too much for a head - do the math.
My first head has been less than 4 cents a week in the long run.

I found this site the other day. I don't know how it works. Has anyone had any experience with this practice head cleaner?

Thanks for sharing the link to the practice heads. Saved me $40! As soon as I get the available cash I'm getting one. Looks just like the proface one on Sillyfarm.

ParTIA: You could practice on the practice head and when you have a design you like, paint it on your kids or get together some friends children from school or whatever and paint their faces. Just be sure if you paint someone else's children and use them for display or advertisement you get a permission slip signed by the parents that you can use their child's image in whatever media you need. That way they can't come back on you for money or sue you or whatever.
