Smoothie Blenders... Empty Smoothie Blenders...

Post by MasterpieceFacePainting Sat Nov 26, 2011 3:57 pm

Hi, I was recommended the Silly Farm Smoothie Blender for use with Mehron Starblend and told that there's not much point bothering with any other type of Smoothie Blenders. Unfortunately Silly Farm charges $45.50 shipping to the UK, even for just the one item so that's out of the question for me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for Smoothie Blender's with slightly more reasonable shipping charges?

Thanks, Bekah

Ps, Hi, I'm new to the forum, hope I don't bug you too much... Smile

Snazaroo has those cool lollipop blenders that are sponge and they work well with my Ben Nye Lumineres. If you were covering a face for a puppy or such the pads would work well but if you are doing eye designs or masks, the lollipops work pretty well and they are only 50 cents each.

I find the lollipop blenders at Amerikan Body Art, I think that may be where you mean Denise? We were lamenting that they sent you square ones a couple of months ago, but they had the round ones in stock the last time I ordered...Silly farm pushes the smothie blenders. I have never had any luck with them, they fall appart and cost way too much for that! Love the lollipops, and I have a velvet texture type cosmetic powder puff in each one of my star blends, which you can find at beaty suplies pretty cheep (I bet in the UK too?) I use the lollipops for my other poweders, Ben Nye and mica poweders. Love them, and the price is really right! They come like 10 to a pack, or something like that.

facepaintingmom, I was suggesting Snazaroo because she's in the UK and they are based out of there so hopefully shipping would be a lot less...but yes I got mine from Amerikan Body Art.

I've got to order a bunch of those...they are super resilient and easy to clean. I'd like one for each Ben Nye Color.

Ah, I need to learn to read! I saw silly farm, not snazaroo! my bad. I think that the lollipops are much more durable than the smoothie blenders!

Thanks so much everyone!
The powder puff type things are an amazing idea, inexpensive and easy to replace and I'll have a look around for the Snazaroo lollypops. There's a small theatrical supplies store in my town that stocks Snazaroo, they generally have no idea what I'm talking about when I ask for things (ie. bald caps, liquid latex, etc) but it's worth a try before I look online.

I knew there was a good reason for joining this forum!

I bought one just to use with the stencils and at the first try it has a hole in the middle, I only use it with white and looks so dirty, I don't like it at all and I don't recommended + I think they are quite expensive for the use.

Here's a link to the photo. They are sold at Amerikan Body Art for the mica tattoos and I guess they originally come from Snazaroo.

I've had mine for a year and washed them a dozen time and they still look pretty good. They're only about 3/4" across so wouldn't be good for full face but they are great for eye designs and masks.

Thanks for the link, Denise! I guess I'll have to look into those once my smoothies go kaput. I'm always very careful with them, though, because it does seem like the inside part would push right through the fabric if I were too rough.

I found some in bulk on-line and pointed it out to Metina so I'm hoping she'll buy some so we can add them to orders here. I can't figure out how to buy stuff from Snaz directly either but Amerikan Body Art sells them.

I buy compact refills, 3 to a pack, from the drug store, they work great for me when I have a large area to cover, such as a spiderman or a tiger design. I use the lollypops or smoothy blenders for smaller areas.

Hello BekahCat,

Have you found a provider in Europe (or anywhere else with decent shipping fees) ?
I've been looking for those too and haven't found yet.

Pepita, I haven't found smoothie blenders, but I've been using little sponge powder puffs from Boots and they work great!

Thanks for recommending the powder puffs. I will be picking some up next trip to the store.
The smoothie blender I had for my black starblends fell apart. The plastic thing in the middle poked right through and I was so disappointed. Thankfully the rest are holding up well.
But I think the powder puffs will be wonderful because I do use my starblends to do bases for puppies, skulls, spidey, and a few others.

Sooooo I've just received my first Starblend Very Happy !
I tried :
- a sponge (not very efficient)
- a poofer : great !
- a tiny spongy blender (the type we use with eye makeup) : that's what gave the best coverage but maybe not the best uniformity
- some sort of weird sponge (as if it was made of rubber) which I had for my foundation : very good coverage, very uniform (got them at H&M).

cheers

But I'd still like to get the large blenders one of these days !
