Beard Troubles
Hiya
The other half has decided he wants me to paint him up for Halloween, this is no bad thing as the Halloween event we are going to I am painting on a PPF basis so it'll be good advertising. The only problem is that he has a beard, more than stubble but not a full on bushy beard. He would like to call it designer stubble, I call it ruining my painting canvas.
I searched beards in the forum search but nothing really came up. I was toying with the idea of getting the latex out and forming some sort of zombie mask around the eyes, cheeks and forehead. does any one have any suggestions for great halloween boy masks they would like to share? Damn Facial Hair!
Thanks for any help

Re: Beard Troubles
Work with it... zombie with a beard full of blood, The Wolfman, tramp clown, any hairy animal... beards work with tigers quite well... a troll, etc.

Re: Beard Troubles
No worries, I'm serious though!
I gave the werewolf in the Wolfe brothers book ago, it didn't go so well. It was too busy, I am always tend to over complicate things. I'm off to the O2 arena to see Britmey Spears tonight so can't practice so that leaves it all to the day of the gig - eeek!

Re: Beard Troubles
Shannon's got some great ideas!
Or face paint it white, give him red eye sockets and white angry eyebrows and call him 'evil santa' "Ho Ho OHHhhh!"
Or you could just paint some kind of mask just using the eyes - lots of 'monster' type masks you could choose from.
Have fun!

Re: Beard Troubles
"Accidentely" mess some latex on the beard.
Kindly offer to remove it. Problem solved and you're able to make any design you would like!

Re: Beard Troubles
Thakyou for all your help and suggestions. I went for the Wolf Brothers werewolves with a few little tweaks, Had a ton of friends over who intently watched me the whole time so felt a bit nervous! He was really pleased though.
Re: Beard Troubles
Cool! The beard enhances the look, I think.

Re: Beard Troubles
I had a bunch of guys want a specific design which was very difficult to do over their facial hair. And the design doesn't really have an out for it. I just painted over the hair and kept it as accurate as possible.
I just want to say, "I painted that design on myself for my menu board. Do you see facial hair on my face??" Don't look too closely!
Oh, well. Moving right along...

Re: Beard Troubles
I love it with the beard! Your color choice was perfect and really enhanced what he already had.
I did a cheetah what a beard...it totally messed up the muzzle, but they were too drunk to care (thank goodness for Halloween parties with alcohol) he tipped me 5 bucks too! Gotta love a guy who is either drunk, or blind, or both! Tehe!

Re: Beard Troubles
You did great! I always incorporate the beard into the design. If you do need to color the beard & skin under it a kabuki brush works wonderfully(I love the Vargas one).
Re: Beard Troubles
Oh, thanks for that tip Psalmbook, I have been thinking of a bukki brush for a while, now I have a reason to go and really get it, just in case I need to do another cheetah on a guy with a beard who is not drunk!
