Afew pics...am I getting better?

Some photos of my henna work...wouldn't mind feedback from folks....

I generally won't do necks except for one client I have or the quarter size space right behind the ear lobe. The reason for this is most the time they walk out of the booth look the wrong way and turn it into a big smudge. It is also a hard angle to work on.

Past that I would say practice practice practice. Start with practicing the basic shapes like you might practice the basic brush strokes. Some basic shapes are circles, half circles, Half circles put together to make kind of a rounded m shape. Straight lines, Swirls, S curves, heart shape petals and so on.

I laminated a couple hands and work on that using henna or pudding mixed to about the same consistency. Sometimes I put lotion in a cone and practice with that on my skin.

thanks!! I have some demised henna and can practice with that too. I am wondering if my henna is too thick as it seems to curl up when it comes out of the cone.

Curling out when it comes out of the cone may be thickness related, but more likely it's hole size + pressure. too much pressure can cause the henna to do that. Practice with pressure will make a difference. A bit larger hole or smoother henna could also be the issue. Try to cut the hole bigger. If it's too big/thick a line, thin out the paste a bit. Still an issue? Then it's likely you are applying too much pressure. If you are applying that pressure due to having stoppages of the henna coming out, try pulling your henna through a stocking to get lumps out before coning. This may be helpful. Like Amy says, it really is all about practice makes perfect and you are definately improving!

You gotta find that fine line between thickness and runyness. You may have it too thick. Add a couple drops of water and see if you like it better. Curls also happen with the dreaded wonky cone. The wonky cone has a lip on it.
