Check out my "almost finished" website....critiques please :)

My website is almost up and running so I just wanted to get some feedback from all of you guys. Let me know what you think...too busy, not busy enough....everyone on here is so great so I just wanted some critique before my web guy wraps it all up. The rate/services page isn't done yet...but the design on that page is going to be the same as the others anyway....and he will be adding a bunch more pics to the gallery soon...but otherwise I think it is all set.

I love the layout! I don't think it's too busy. You don't want too much wording because these days people don't like to read. Let the visuals sell you. I love it. How much does your guy charge?

Looks beautiful! The design couldn't be more perfect! The only thing I would change is your email address to reflect your website addy ( celeste@facepaintbyceleste.com ) . Nice work and lovely site to show it off!

I'm so jealous you have a web guy!! : ) your site is great!! I would love to have something like that. The only think I would look at, is on your ABOUT page I couldn't read the white writing in the top two boxes. Congrats on a fab site!

My only critique is that I couldn't read any of the writing in the 2 main boxes on the about page, maybe writing less and making the font bigger or using a more plain font....

Other wise I think it looks great, and very professional!

I love the look and layout also. On the front page Id is I'd and I found the scrollbar for the gallery a bit tricky, but that could be my slow computer.

The site looks great........ BUT .... it's not produced well to be readily found by prospects looking for you via search engines. MAybe the site is not for that (some people just want a portfolio site and send linbks to it) ... but if you want people who don't yet know you to find you .... I'd take a serious look at making it search engine friendly.

For example:

When your site shows in search results pages (currently 20th ie last on page two even for the terms "face paint celeste") ... this is what displays:

This is NOT the compelling message you need showing here to entice searchers to click through to you.

Your landing page has no content ... which I suspect means that Google can't display you for any searches for relevant terms as there are none on there.

Even your galler page has no content visible to Google .... as the gallery is in a format it does not read. Opportunities to have vital keywords as photo file names, captions or Alt Tags are not used at all ... and pix have titles like "reflect2.php?img=img/img8-sm.jpg" instaead of more useful things like "fairy-glitter-angel".

Having sites that 'work' and do the job intended is all about finding the correct balance between looking great but also having functionality. It's important (for many) that they do the job intended .... and don't just look 'nice'. Otherwise .... it's like winking in the dark!
