Do you charge by the hour?
By complexity of design?
A fixed amount?

I am in Clearwater, FL. I don't know it would make a difference, but i figured I should put that out there.

Did I mention I I love you you guys lol

It really depends on the complexity of the design & the event. For a private photo shoot or baby shower I'd charge my hourly rate. I have a friends rate that really only covers my paint. I also sometimes do it as a gift to the mamma if I'm invited to her shower.
If I'm doing festival style or maternity show style stuff I do simple 10 minute designs for $25 & have $10-$15 "Bling-ups" where I add gems.
I'm still really new to this & just trying to build my portfolio....

I charge by the hour for all private and corporate events. If I have a large festival I want to do as a vendor, I charge per face based on my own loose interpretation of what a design is worth. LOL. If it's a full face I always charge more. If it's smaller but takes forever to do I charge more. Quicker designs are less. I tend to pay more attention to how long it takes to paint than to how much area of the face it covers when pricing.

But how/what do you charge for *bellies* Angie?
I was thinking of doing $75 a design, does that sound too steep?

I don't do a whole lot of prenatal paintings, but $75 sounds very fair. I have them listed on my website for $50 per one-hour design in my own home by appointment. Extra charge for going to their home.

I'm doing something where the mother will come to my home studio and have 2 hours of painting on her belly, for $99. I'm in a small suburban area in Utah so I'm sure you could charge at least that Smile Have fun!

I start at $150 for a belly paint & a photoshoot with 5 edited photos on disc. it takes about 2.5 hours with the shoot, then the time to edit the pics. Depending if the design is something they want me to do (costs more) or if its something I can have free reign with (costs a bit less since its already in my head, lol )

I think that's what I had in mind to in the beginning, but I'm not anywhere near good enough with the camera to charge more for pictures. Once I know how to wield a camera though, that would be awesome!

I'm pretty similar to Carolyn.

I'm not as good a photographer as her, so I recommend they combine the date with their prenatal shoot. I take some photos with a black backdrop that turn out pretty good, but they look better when a pro takes the shots.

I've charged $200 in the past, but those clients are rare here in the Fraser Valley. So when they come to me and do their own photography, it's usually $100. That's a custom design I get their guidance on, but have learned from experience not to offer too much direction from them the day of. Very Happy
