Picking a name Empty Picking a name

Post by cher Sun Apr 17, 2011 5:40 pm

I seem to be having a very hard time picking a name for my face painting business. Everything I think of I google it and it is already being used by someone else. So I was wondering if any of you had any good ideas? I want to get my cards made up soon and that is kind of an important part Smile
Thank you all in advance

sit down with a notebook and write everything that comes to your mind when you think of facepainting. for 4-5 minutes. EVERY word. then look at the list, and start putting words together to see if it's catchy or new. If you're going to have a website, you're going to want something to catch the searches for facepainting. So, you need to have FACE or Painting in the name somewhere. Good luck--let us know what you come up with, and we'll vote on what we like best. These ladies are great with suggestions!

Photomomma6, that's pretty much what I did, but I picked my boyfriend's brain as well.
You can also expand your options to a googlestorm. Start googling images or words, whatever works best for your brain, and that will help you come up with additional words and images. Do not discount any word or idea. The words/images you don't like are just as helpful as the ones you do!

Check out an on-line thesaurus and try finding unique words that mean what you want to say.

Painting = brushstrokes
Colors = pigments, shades, hues

You get the idea. Then go to town with it, mixing and matching until you get something you like. (Add "Face Painting" or "Body Art" as a sub-title so people will know what it is you do.

Suggestions: Happy Hues, Party Utopia, Rainbow Dreams...

You can add something personal too if there is an alliteration (same beginning letter) as your name or a nickname that you like using. Also, don't worry TOO much about someone else using the same name if they are NOWHERE near you... I see that you're in Canada, but this is an awfully big place and I doubt if you'll have much competition with someone in say Florida or Texas or something.

Ok Ladies and Gentlemen,
Here are a few I came up with that no one else is using....
Magical mirror face art and more
Happy Time Face art
Sharra's Fabulous Faces
Rainbow Dreams face art
Brilliantly Bright Faces
Sweetheart faces....this one is super girlie to me though but when I look at little faces that is usually what I think.

I wouldn't go with Happy Time if only because there is already one with a similar name (at least) in southern Ontario (http://www.happytimeclowns.com/)...

I personally like Sharra's Fabulous Faces but that might cause you a problem if you are going to need to subcontract out for an event....

I'm partial to Sweetheart Faces. I grew up in the south so grown men are all sweetheart, little boys, women, and little girls are all Sweathearts to me. Smile

Haha I was going to mention happy time clowns as well when I saw that... I like magical mirror. I also like the idea of using your real name actually, it makes it easier when people write you cheques and when you answer the phone... People will feel like they "know" you more just by knowing your name and not just your business. You can always add "& friends" to it later if you start getting help.
