Some help with an idea...
I have my first ever belly painting coming up on Sunday, it's for a friend of mine who runs a holistic birthing centre (the only one of its kind in the world, an approved medical centre, run by midwives for pregnant mums to birth natural and in a home environment) they are having a stand at the local festival and have asked me to paint a belly, they would like the logo of the centre to be in the middle http://www.ccbcwa.com.au/ and then Im free to do as I like. The circle around the logo will be a gradual fade from deep purple to lilac to white, starting at the top. I have had a play on my sons back just to get a feel for the design but am stuck on the outside edge, I had a play with a sun circle but felt the sudden purple to red was too much, I tried a swirls, flowers and teardrops thing but couldn't get it to mesh properly (again I think its the purple). I would love to do something really amazing and have been looking at Celtic circles and things like that. So any suggestions on what I could do, I would love for it to be fertility based (again why I don't think the flowers, swirls and teardrops didn't work) I also didn't get a pic of my work in progress cos Mr 6 threw a tanty, but I am happy with the main image.
Thanks so much

Their logo is really sweet,.. maybe incorporate the swirl that is on the moms belly in the logo, around the outside of the design? you could add rhinestones to the tips of the little swirls to make it stand out from the purple maybe? flourish them a little more?.. or, maybe you could do more of a "target style" fade where right in the middle is the purple (with the little orange logo lady right in the center) then fading out to the lavender then the white all around the edges? you could do alot more graphic detail around the edge on white, maybe with the orange? cant wait to see pics!
Re: Some help with an idea...
I was just looking at the amazing rainbow belly that you posted Barefoot and love that idea, so I think a big split with purples to white is the way to go, then with the white on the outside I can see more ways to go with this. Now I think the sun circle will work, it was the dark purple at the top that made it all look top heavy. Thanks so much, you've helped clear my block on this one.

no problem! expanding on one idea between a few people produces some cool ideas... I love brainstorming with people! Gets the creative juices flowin, lol.. I'd just be sure if your gona do that cute little round lady in the middle that u paint her first, then the purple around her,lol.. you'd have a heck of a time painting her on top of dark purple!

My plan now is to lightly outline the Buddha Mummy and block her in a thin white wash, radiate my purple out from the BM and them fill her in once the circle is complete. I tried painting her over purple the other day and it was a no go. I took my sketch pad out with me this morning and doodles for a bit and had so many ideas for the border, I got one of a Persian rug, one out of a magazine and expanded the sun circle idea too.

For the logo why don't you try with metalics, you may blend the purple with white, in that way you can get the fade gradualy, and the metalics are very easy to use them over other color.
