Ok I need some fp’ers opinions
Jumping around looking for new ideas a month or so ago I came across a fun design. The artist name I cannot remember, but she was a very pretty, blonde for some reason I think she is in Chicago area. Any way back on point- she was doing little cartoon characters on the forehead and nose of the person and when you move your face or wiggle you nose the character moves around. I thought this is such a unique design I had to try it. I think they are so fun to do, and I have done a few and they are such a crowd pleaser, loads of laughing going on when the kids start making them dance around in the mirror.
My question is because it’s such a unique thing is it alright to copy the idea? Should I try to find the artist to get permission before I do any more?

I just love her stuff, some time its hard to not copy things just because you like them so much. i do tons of kids and to watch them wiggling their faces around is soooo much fun.

I think she knows other face painters are going to do it. I looked at her website. It is great. She states she is the creator of that style and that it is sweeing the nation. I love it. You did a good job with your penguin. It's nice to know who to give credit to.

I think she started out as a cartoonist. I love her work. I haven't even gotten around to trying to imitate it yet, but I'm planning on it. I didn't think about the nose wiggling aspect. How fun!

OMG I had a two kids and the parants were ((I swear)) rolling on the ground in the dirt and the mother was cring she was laughing so hard. both kids did a raindeer. I wish so much I had a photo or video of them.

when you put something on the internet, someone is bound to try to make it too...

and most of the things you make are inspired by some other piece of art...give it you own style and it's ok...

I noticed on her website also the ladybug design over the eye that was discussed in another forum. If she created that design, it has been used as a basis for MANY designs. I love her stuff.

We all take inspirations from each other....that's what happens when you post your stuff around. I absolutely love it.
I myself will try it also .... one of these days. (*oh & I saw her ladybug design somewhere (no name just pic), I found it absolutely adorable and did it at events myself....imitation is the best form of flattery ..... I hope somebody somewhere is looking at my stuff and finding inspiration )

I love Margie's work! Her nose designs are amazing! I agree, most of us know if we put it out there, it will be imitated. My step-by-step arm dragon I just did was based of Silly Heather's Dragon Mask design. I started to load the brush & then at the last minute the child said, "I want it on my arm, like a tattoo." I went with it & then all the boys wanted it. Tada! A new design is born!
