New Restaurant Gig Empty New Restaurant Gig

Post by Just Jenny Sun Feb 22, 2009 7:33 pm

I got a new restaurant.....Wait till you read this...unbelievable!!!!
I went to CiCi's (Guess which forum gave me the Idea) and talked to the Manager about working there on Monday nights from 6 to 8 face painting. He said he was open to it and since Monday was his slowest day, he was very interested in trying something new on that night. So we came to an agreement with a low fee to start, and renegotiate in 6 weeks when business picks up, and that food is included as part of the negotiation. I start tomorrow Feb 23. So wish me luck with getting a lot of kids into the place, and learning how to paint fast.

Oh, did I tell you I got into another restaurant too? Yep, Just Minutes ago I received an e-mail that I had Corporate approval to start working at Glory Days Grill on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 Starting March 2 (or maybe it's the 3rd). I'll rotate between doing Face Painting and Balloons each week and I had negotiated a meal from them too!

The unbelievable part of this is that I need to lose weight as I've been gaining all year and have set myself a goal of losing 2 pounds a week and then I get 2 restaurants almost back to back that have both agreed to feed me....Amazing!

I'm still doing the happy dance, cause I love the regular work that comes from doing regular gigs, and I love the money too!

Thanks everyone,

Jenny (doing the happy dance, smiling and losing weight all at the same time, Whoo Hoooo!)

What great news!! Gosh, I need to contact my Cici's and Chick-fil-a to see about face painting. I haven't done it yet partly because I am chicken and partly because I doubted they would be willing to pay me. I need to get busy promoting myself with this. Thanks for sharing Jenny!

I know how you feel....but you are so good, and you are beautiful to boot. Here's a suggestion to help you out. Go to a restaurant that you THINK won't hire you. Go in during their slow time and give them your best sales pitch. Oh, I always go in and eat first, get as much info from the waite staff as I can and then ask to see the Manager. Talk about how their slowest days could be filled with children bringing their parents in to eat while they get their faces painted. Blah, Blah, Blah. They'll say no and you will get your practice.
leave your card just as if you expect them to hire you....now that you have the practice pitch practiced, go over to the two restaurants that would consider hiring entertainment, and give them your best speel. I'll be looking to hear from you soon and you start your new restaurant.

Good Luck,
Jenny

New Restaurant Gig Empty Resturant gigs

Post by Winger1200 Mon Mar 30, 2009 1:50 pm

Im making my rounds of the local national restaurant chains. One manager was really interested and gave me the Ruby Tuesday headquarters phone number to call to get into the system. I found out Ruby Tuesdays wont allow FP because its considered soliciting and so does Chucky Cheese.
If you know of a national Restaurant like Glory Days & Cici's that does allow FP please let us all know, as it would be most appreciated.
Cheers,
Susan

Look up "Kids eat free" and other such topics for restaurants....Kids night.....
and call, no go into them and see what they do. That's a great way to see what's in your area.

It's not soliciting if they pay you hourly to be there. Very Happy

(I guess that's the problem!)

Try Chick-Fil-A. They seem to be facepainter friendly in many areas.

Thats what their explanation was, after checking with supervisor - eech, with hard times, you'd think the restaurants would use all the help they could get to get more customers in.
Thanks Angie,
Happy Painting,
Susan

What is a good hourly rate, etc. I have a kids restuarant close to home, I realize it would be less than parties but what is fair market?

I've unfortunately never gotten a regular restaurant gig, but I know people who work for half price, for $50 an hour, $30 an hour, or even just for tips if the place is REALLY busy.

In Jacksonville, FL I've been told by a local clown that most charge $50 an hour. She charges a lower rate and had me fill in for her. I took her normal rate which was $85 for 2 hours.
