WINTER theme (not holidays)
I'm doing an even tomorrow that is winter/snow themed. They want me to stick to that and not include holiday stuff. Here's what I came up with:
Polar Bear
Snow Princess
Snow flakes
Penguin
Sled
Snowman
Igloo
...any other ideas?

Re: WINTER theme (not holidays)
Skis, icicles, mittens, hat with pompom on top. (I'm thinking cheek art obviously).
Hmmm, snow-capped mountains? A snowy tree, especially an evergreen (with no ornaments), is very wintery.
Oh! Ice skates!!

That is too cute. Did you use gray or wash out black?

Re: WINTER theme (not holidays)
I saw an adorable design somewhere (I think it was Cindy Trusty's) of a tongue sticking out of a mouth with a snowflake on it. I've been dying to try that one out for years.
Re: WINTER theme (not holidays)
Lone Wolf has a very cute polar bear 'full face'.

The scandinavians know a thing or two about polar bears and winter themes

Re: WINTER theme (not holidays)
Here's a winter mask I came up with the other day.
I used Snaz Sparkle Blue & Kryolan Pearl for the base, (or maybe it was DFX metallic white...I forget which one is in this photo because I painted 2 masks & used both & both worked well) then wolfe white & wolfe metallic blue for the line work. The snowflakes are stencils I cut with my woodburner.

ANITA!! YOU HAVE JUST ANSWERED MY PRAYERS! I have been searching for a way to make SAFE stencils! A woodburner is the way to go!
The design you did is sooo glamourous! I love it.
AC MOORE, HERE I COME!
(Be sure to wear a mask if you burn plastics to avoid inhaling xenoestrogens!).

Ha! I was just about to xacto cut some stencils! I think I have a wood burner in my craft room I've never used. Linda you're my hero!
Re: WINTER theme (not holidays)
hey guys,
Just an FYI....make sure that you get a fine tip attachment for the wood burner if you plan on doing delicate stuff like snowflakes. Otherwise you'll have a blobby melted mess with the wider tips!

Re: WINTER theme (not holidays)
I was dreading the xacto thing but with your idea, I've finished the stencils, painted my face and ready for my gig! Thank you so much!
Wish I knew about this for Canada day and my Canadian Maple Leaf stencil!

Re: WINTER theme (not holidays)
What material do you make your stencils out of? I've seen uncut stencil plastic/mylar in the craft section, do you use that? I'd like to try using my Silhouette machine, I know it will cut adhesive-backed vinyl but have never tried any other kind of plastic in it.

I just use the plastic that you can run through a laser printer, usually used for overheads. Now if I had a cricut...
Here's what I had done in a matter of minutes after reading Linda's idea to use the wood burner...

Re: WINTER theme (not holidays)
Vous pouvez acheter des feuilles de plastique plus lourds de votre magasin d'artisanat. Recherchez dans la zone de gabarit en plastique. Ils ont des feuilles blanches des plastiques plus lourdes pour les gabarits et sont réutilisables!
Re: WINTER theme (not holidays)
Translation of what Estelle said: I did this as a test on my daughter but it is not very successful
Translation of what TheSparklingLady said: You can buy sheets of plastic heavier your craft store. Look in the area of plastic strapping. They have white sheets of plastic for heavier jigs and are reusable!
