Afternoon world!
A newbie here in rainy Birmingham, UK!
Used to do lots of basic facepainting a few years ago but I guess you'd still class me as a newbie really!
Been looking all over the net for inspiration for a halloween paint I've got this weekend and in the course of the search came across this site! You all seemed so friendly and supportive I thought I'd sign up despite having never been on a forum for anything before!! lol.
Not sure yet where to post requests for help but as soon as I figure it out I'll be hopefully picking some brains... ;o)

Welcome to the forum, Phil! This does seem to be a female dominated career, and I've never understood why. It's great to have you on-board though! You'll find some inspiring men in the business too - they just don't appear to be as chatty as us women.

Welcome Phil from NC, USA. Everyone here is awesome and the amount of information you can glean is amazing. My problem is there's so much of it! I can't imagine tapping into it all. Good luck with the Halloween paint - maybe we can all inspire you to get back into it more!

Welcome to the forum Phil. We do have a few guys in the mix, but I think by the time they get on here, they've used up their words for the day

Hi Phil, Welcome from The Netherlands.
This is a very nice forum with great people.
No matter what you ask about face painting ,almost any questions will be answered.
Take a look at my website for Halloween designs.
Maybe you could do some inspiration.
There are two pages

Anita - thanks for posting that link - the mummy and the evil clown are my favorites! I'd love to know the steps for putting on a mouth like that - and what paints for each color and what order you do the paints in. I made a mess just trying to do two little fangs on a red vampire mouth last night!

Hi Phil - welcome! There are a few men on the forum; a couple names that pop into my mind are Clayton from Marvelous Masks, Mike(Smitty225) from Merry Faces. It's so nice to have another one!
You know, a number of the top painters are male - the Wolfe brothers, Mark Reid, Sean Avram and of course Gary Cole.
Here is a thread that has some great Halloween ideas in it:

Maybe you'll find some inspiration there for your party!

Wow! Thanks gals (and guy! lol) for the help! I wish I'd found this place sooner now!!
I have to admit, from reading through the various posts etc I'm finding myself eager to get back into this properly! I think I need to do some research into things... for example, I didn't even know there was an annual conference in Birmingham!! lol
I'll have to make sure I stick a couple of pics up of my efforts after the weekend!

I use only DFX paint.
The white paint is the only paint (is my opinion) that covers a dark collor.
First I make the mouth / lips, than the teeth and fill in or outline with black or in this case red. Thats all !!!

Thank you! I wondered if you had painted the teeth over the black - I do need to get some dfx white. Top of my next shopping list.
