Wonder what they charge?
Not only that, but when they paint a design off their ad and it looks NOTHING like the ad, I would hope people get suspicious.

Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
Yikes, this website apparently has 'used' pictures from people all over the world. I came across a letter on another forum that says they hired a company and paid them $700 to make their website and they were told that the pictures were purchased and were ok to use. Why they don't put their own work on the website is beyond me. There are a few letters being sent to them, so it will be interesting if their website changes. I suppose if they had someone build their website, they will have to wait until the webmaster changes their site.
Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
I hope they get their $700 back.
I'm glad I built my website. It's not perfect, but it's mine & everything on it is mine.
It's like having someone else write your resume & then when asked about something in the content, not knowing what their talking about.

Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
I heard back from her and some off show company in India designed her sight and yes she had to pay for the pictures - She says that they will take the photos down on Monday - we will see.
so now people are downloading pictures from other sites and selling them to istockphotos? I sure hope not - I went and place watermarks on my tattoo pictures - still need to do my body painting and belly art photos.

Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
I've been watermarking everything on my site for years. And reducing the size of the photos too so that they can't be enlarged without pixelating.
It really gets my goat that someone who wants to be a face painter can't be bothered to TAKE THEIR OWN PHOTOS!! I mean, how cheap are digital cameras anyway?????

yeah, you can get a bare basics one that is fine for photographing a couple of face paintings for less than $100. Which, in my book, is better than having to face lawsuits down the line !

$700 is pretty cheap for a website...I guess you get what you pay for. I'd think if you are serious enough about your face painting business to have a website, you'd be serious enough to take a few photos. I know I have 100's of photos and I only started seriously into this less than a year ago!
I've been inspired by many of you with designs, but I ALWAYS paint it myself and take a photo of my work before I advertise it. There are so many opportunities to practice designs and take photos. If I'm really desperate for a face I use a mirror and take a photo of myself.

I have so many photos of myself on my display board that the kids comment on it

Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
People that see my site are more amazed at the fact that I can paint my own face. So I don't mind at all being my own model...lol. Customers have commented on several occasions......If you can do that to your own face you must be a really good artist. Booked alot of gigs just off my own face. I'm glad that I have gotten much better and less apprehensive about doing designs on myself. With as much as I have painted and repainted my self over the last several months, I am just thankful my skin hasn't decided to declare mutiny on me.
Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
My face actually did shout mutiny till I started using Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser.
I'm thinking of getting bifocal contacts (I'M NOT THAT OLD!!!) so I can more easily paint myself. I'm often working w/ muscle memory & guess work on my own face

No, I think that the company she used to design her site must have used some from Istock, and some stolen from other people's sites. I didn't see any on Istock that anyone said belonged to someone else.
Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
WHY WHY WHY would someone pay a "company in India" $700 to design a website????????? Huh?
I did my own with almost no knowledge of how to, using templates. There are free site. There are teenagers next door who can do it. etc. etc.

I was thinking the same thing. Off shore usually means scam w/ no recouping of $....
Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
Their gallery page isnt working for me...but i still see the pretty pink butterfly on another page!
Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
Yes, they've changed the URL in the banner so that the Gallery link no longer goes to the gallery page. However, I had bookmarked the Gallery page directly, and it has not been changed. And as you point out, BluAngl, the pink Lucid Arts butterfly is also on another page.
It's only the pics that belong to other painters that bother me; the Istock pics are misleading and a form of false advertising, but at least they were bought and paid for (presumably) by the company that created the website.

Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
and they even state on their site that each artist has 5+ years experience... where are any photos from all of this work?
... lazy if you ask me...
also- it took me a bit to realize WHERE they are located. Just odd design and way too much of a headache for $700...

Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
I had a grandmother at a carnival ask me to paint feathers and beads down her arm. The carnival was on Saturday. Well on tuesday my husband saw her and told me she still had it painted on her arm. Then on Thursday I was standing in line at subway and who gets in line behind me but that grandmother with the feathers. She still had them on!!! I asked her if she had my card and told her I would happily paint them again anytime. She said she was carefully taking showers taking care to not let it get wet. The truth is that you never know what people will do.[img]
Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
It will last on the arm for quite a while, but is very misleading when it's a "Face Painting" site o say you can keep it on for days. Face paint, like any make-up should be washed off before bed. It's bad for the skin & eyes to sleep w/ make-up on.
Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
People do what they want regardless of what we tell them. I tell people to wash it off before they go to bed, but like children they do what they want. I however feel very blessed for the talent God gave me to be able to paint myself everyday if i want too. I booked 3 more belly painting this week, so maybe I'll be able to enter the contest, lol!!
Re: Face painting that can last for 2 days?!
Remember this thread? From what I can see, all the pics that belonged to other people are gone. It looks as if all the pics that remain are stock photos that are purchased from Istock. (Except on the gallery page which is no longer linked from their home page - but I still had it in my bookmarks. But that's no big deal, I guess.)
Anyway, I ran across them on Facebook this morning:
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fantasy-Faces/321388719538#!/pages/Fantasy-Faces/321388719538
and in a photo album named "Our Services" they have posted some of the stock photos they purchased.
I really have to wonder why they don't post any pictures of their own work? Has anyone here seen them in action? It looks as if they do a lot of gigs, judging by their client list. Surely they must take a picture or two!! It does make me wonder what they use for a display board...
Anyway, enough flogging this horse, I just wanted to share the FB link. I'm going to check on it once in a while to see if any of their happy customers share pics on there... I'm really curious to see their work.

The Site Appears to be Down
The site linked appears to be down. April 21 @ 11:30. I guess they're re-tooling.
