Snaz Help! Empty Snaz Help!

Post by anramire2 Tue Jul 06, 2010 11:19 pm

Its been really hot here for the last few days. Todays temp was over 100. My snaz paints have all turned to a gloppy mess. It is as if they've melted (which I have to tell you in this heat, I've been melting and I couldn't blame them) Could someone tell me if they are salvageable and are they still safe to use? I currently have them uncovered sitting on my kitchen table in hopes they would turn back to there usuall consistancy. Thx in advance for any advice!

Mine always go back to normal after they sit out. I've heard of some people putting them in the freezer, but I just set mine out and they have always come back to life.

I put them in the frig to firm up quickly. For long festivals, I have gallon baggies full of frozen water beneath my pallet when the temp soars above ninety. I also have spare cakes of black purple & white for lining sitting in the cooler. Last year I found that after I get the base coat on I can slip my pallets into the cooler while I am lining & adding glitter to a face to let them firm up abit every so often when they really get soupy.

It was the high ninetys during Sunday's four hour event in the shade and all my paints stayed dry & firm without having to put ice beneath them.

Dont spray your paints unless you are ready to use a particular color, then spray it and pull up all the water with your sponge swipe to keep the color from getting too wet.

Its handy to have a spare pallet, too. Shown is one I found at the dollar store that holds the snaz 8 color rainbow kit & 8 pastel kit with a few of my paints. I keep it in the cooler until needed.

Punch a 'well' into an edge of your paints you use for lining and dip the back handle of your brush into water to fill it and only use that area of the paint for lines. You get a great consistancy and really potent color that way, like Gary Cole does ; )

Hope this helps keep your paints firmer,

They should be fine. They are harder to work with like that though, so you may want to keep an ice pack or two under your pallet and keep them as much as possible out of direct sun. It often happens to my black and dark blue.
