Paradise colour recommendations Empty Paradise colour recommendations

Post by SEZnz Wed Jun 09, 2010 10:22 pm

Hi guys Smile

So with the grimas pure being not so good, i'm gonna order some paints out of the US - I think I'd like to get myself some paradise... can anyone recommend colours that they do particularly well?

I think I read on here that the 'mango' is nice, anything else? I've got Wild Orchid which is beautiful when added to metallic white

thanks so much!

I used to use Paradise, and I always liked their lilac... idk if that the official name, but that's what I called it. Definately get odd colors, like grey, brown, those kinds, so you won't have to mix them yourself... gosh I hated that back in the beginning when all I had was a paradise primary palete... those were dark days.. lol.

I had a wolfe essentials when I first switched from paradise, and you can still get a lot of faces out of it... definately enough to make you enough $$ to step it up and get more or a different pallete if you so desire. It's also a good way to measure and get an idea of which colors you use the most of, so you can get larger cakes of those specific colors.

I have 24 paradise colors, and I haven't got one I don't use. That said I do have preferences... like amazon green instead of dark green, lagoon blue instead of dark blue. I love the teal but it can stain pale skin, I love the wild orchid it's probably my fav, oh and the berry red i think it's called with out looking is much better for the spidermen etc as it's a bright red, the flat red is very dark, but perfect for blood. I noticed if you get the sampler pallet instead of the large professional pallet you get 30 colors so there must be a few i don't have. If I had to choose between the tropical pallet and the regular pallet I would go for the tropical - if that helps.

I like all the colors in the tropical pallet(it's what convinced me to go bigger). It's a great way to start & then replace w/ the bigger pots of paint as you use up your favorites. I just got the "briefcase" w/ 12 colors. What I especially liked was splitting them so I could sponge on 2 colors at once. I use dark green/yellow for leaves, lilac/pink for butterflies, flowers, tigers...., teal & lilac the same. I love the blendability of paradise & often use a 1" filbert to apply & blend them.

I don't care for their metallic(or at least the gold or was it copper). It was hard to activate & didn't cover well. But, that was several years ago... maybe I was missing something....

LOL! I was so excited when I got it... my 1st metallic! I kept trying to get it to work & it was like painting w/ charcoal briquets. Then I met wolfe paint & never went back:-)

Paradise colour recommendations Paradi10
My favourite paradise colours are in the pastel palette. Don't look at the brush work but this was a quick swipe of the sponge with the colours from the pastel (much brighter than I'd expect pastels to be) I outlined with paradise black and white from the basic kit. I'm not sure of the names of the colours.
I use the black and white all the time esp on kids.

The briefcase is the make your own palette thing I take it? I hadn't thought about getting the palette, was going to get individual paints instead but mightn't be a bad idea to combine with a couple of bigger ones I think I'll like.

I would really like a nice yellow, would you recommend the mango?

The mango is perfect for blending for cats, lions, tigers and leopards, but it's not a really bright yellow, more pastal.
I used Mango, Teal, dark pink and lagoon blue for this design so you can see the mango over her eyes ( there is gold glitter on it.)

Oh and I use the mango (with glitter) for simple 'queen' crowns like this - cause it stands out better then plain gold.

Paradise colour recommendations Empty Paradise Colors

Post by wonderbrush Mon Jun 28, 2010 2:07 pm

Here are my favorite Paradise colors:
Lagoon Blue - love it - great for creating flowers or any details you want to pop. I've tried other blues for details and keep coming back to this one.
Dark and Light Pink -blend well together
Teal - love it for a butterfly, you can see it from a mile away
Grey - use it for a house cat; when paired with pink it it's useful in small doses

I tried using Wild Orchid for a linework, ala Mark Reid, but I haven't been as successful with it as I'd like. I switched to using Wolfe Metallic Purple for some linework and I like it better and have gotten good feedback from the parents - they ask for "that" purple. I haven't tried to blend with the metallic purple though.

Least favorite - white and all the yellows

Cherry bomb red.....it's amazing.
Silver bullet as well.
I have almost every Paradise colour there is and I love them all except the dark blue. Def. go with the lagoon blue. Nice to outline the batman mask with.
I love the black for my outlines. It comes off was easier then any other black. No staining. I adore the teal and lime green for my fantasy cats. No too excited about the dark green though.
Good luck. You'll love them.

I just got in my shipment of every color and have already used them all. There is no way to pick a favorite. I have done this before with other brands and always found a few colors I didn't care for, but not the paradise colors. They are all vibrant and blend well!

I just got the Tropical palette and Twist Prisma rainbow cake. These are both excellent for butterflies and flowers. Pretty-pretty! I recommend them both. Very Happy They also smell great to me, but I worry a little that others might not like the smell because it is fairly strong and some folks (not many) hate coconut. Also, cocoa butter is an ingredient that can clog pores, which may be a problem for teens and adults who are prone to breakouts. Just a thought. I'm not giving it up, but will definitely be getting other paints in addition.

oh that's interesting to know it can clog pores - will keep an eye on that.

I've ordered every core colour and the palettes for them... can't wait for them to arrive!! decided to order even the colours you guys said weren't as nice as I figured they'd still be useful for shading alongside the nicer colours Smile

Paradise metallics are luscious. If I had to choose a small kit to start, I would go with the tropical pallette. Good Luck!

I got to play at my jam w/ some paradise metallics & I don't totally hate them anymore. I think my dislike was a lack of knowledge on how to use them. Darn, now I need to get more paints....

I have to admit, I am IN LOVE with paradise. I really love the dfx colors, but they are hard to get off myself...I imagine the parents might not like that. I have the two snaz pallets, and I like snaz, but when I got the three paradise pallets in I was amazed at how vibrant the colors were compared to snaz....I am using my snaz pallets for split cakes and totally going all in for paradise now.

I have no paradise in my kit, but If I decide to do this gig for a non profit that provides emergency food shelter and clothing to people in need, I may have the opportunity to do so.

They have asked me to do their annual back to school giveaway in mid-August where they provide bookbags and new schools supplies for kids in need. They said if I would donate my time, they would cover the cost of supplies I would need to do the event. Last year they gave out over 200 book bags and this year due to the economy they are expecting it to be more.

I'm kinda on the fence about it only because it would be a very long day, but then again I would get to buy the new paints and get some of the green fantasy sponges and what ever else I can come up with.

What do you guys think?

Do they understand how much Pro face paints are?
Did they give you a budget?
...They might be thinking $20 and you might be thinking $100...
