May be staying in Europe a while......
We are suppossed to fly out on Monday but with the Volcano eruption in Iceland, we may be here longer. We have talked to some couples going to England and Ireland who are being delayed 4-5 days so who knows.
They say the ash is starting to clear but may start coming back. Our connection is in Munich so who knows.
I am thrilled with the possibility to stay longer, but the couple we are with are quite upset. We'll see what happens.

A strange situation I think it has never happened here before with a vulcano as a reason reason (I mean 'all flights' delayed)
Re: May be staying in Europe a while......
I heard about the volcano & they delays & was wondering about you. I guess I'll just have to wait longer for my big paint order
Make the best of it!

Oops that's an unfortunate situation but I hope you can enjoy some more europe.
Re: May be staying in Europe a while......
Oh! Go to Denmark for sure. That's where scandinavians go for a party! Legoland is there too. My mom wanted to go there and my dad didn't. So they went ...LOL. And guess who didn't want to leave at the end where you could 'make your own' lego stuff. Lots of fun.
You know the food is good too, afterall a tasty treat is named after them (the danish).

I just found out today that that volcano hasn't erupted since 1823 so I guess it was due. The latest update is that the testing that was done by some planes are coming back as safe to fly and some airports seem to be opening tomorrow.
My husband is on the phone now trying to get us a flight out. It has been great, but I am missing the kids and home. Europe is SOOOO expensive. I don't know how they all can afford it. A coke is anywhere from $3.20 on the street to $8 in a restuarant with no free refills!

Re: May be staying in Europe a while......
A big mac meal in Norway is about $15. Part of it is because they make more money than us, but also because they have a different lifestyle. Taxes and benefits are different so it's the tourist that is affected most. I'm just glad I have family to stay with so visits to Europe are fairly cheap. When I travelled around more of the countries I lived on diet powder shakes and water. I saw a lot, saved a lot, and lost a lot of weight

Good news. We got a direct flight home on Thursday. Our orginal flight had a connection and layover so we are happy. We now are seeing Rome at our leisure a bit and don't feel so rushed.

Mommy we miss you but we are all being extra good and the "sitters" have been extra helpful since you have been gone!
The amazing thing about naturally occurring events is that they have no mandate to follow any rules about how they must behave or how long they have to get things back to normal! My husband loves to say that "Truth is not at all hindered by the 'plausible'!" When we make stuff up, we have to make sure that what we say SOUNDS plausible. Reality has no such constraints! I love that volcano.
