Mark Reid chisel brush

Hey guys, just ordered a couple of these and having a really hard time with them. I load them up just like any other brush but they are so thick that the paint gets lost inside the brush and on the skin almost no colour shows even with pressure! How do you guys use this type of brush?

Sorry I don't have an answer, but I've been wondering the same thing. I haven't purchased it but have seen how thick they are and mark Reid's are my favorite liner brushes!

I have two angle brushes, but mine are not Mark Reid. I use them for outlining butterflies , it does seem you have to really load the brush in its own way, i would suggest practicing different loads. Watch Nurit Pilchin do her butterflies with an angle brush

I keep mine dry and only use them to blend linework. (usually black.) They are amazing for that.

I have the round sizes 2, 4, 6 and the chisel brush too.
I love the round. They are my go to for line work but I was disappointed with the chisel. It doesn't flow like others and it spreads the paint out to the edges of the stroke no matter what type of pressure you use. I tried to find a YouTube tutorial with it being used but I only found a couple that used it to blend in another colour to a design. I think as Diane said to use it like a dry blending brush. If it was half as thick it might be better.

Hmmm, thanks for the info. I will keep it dry and try it with my starblend white.

The MR Chisel brush is short bristled made mainly for drag blending and shading for which it is perfect!

The Paradise Chisel is longer, better for actual painting.

I have the medium, I think it is? I mainly double load it and make dolphins, blossoms and such but it does take a lot of paint. I mainly use it for blending like most people.
I've been wanting to play more with it but I prefer it when it's dry. I'd like to use it more for paint considering the cost of it.

I guess this is a brush that I don't think I need!
