Anti Belly Painting story
(Forgive me if I put this in the wrong place the Belly Painting thread might be more where it should go, but here goes )
I just came across this on aol ...this is the blurb that directed people to the link (for the Mom & Me website):
"This is in a very awkward spot [under that they had a picture, in fact the very pretty one that is the first picture on the link]
We love art as much as the next person, but the placement of this painting is seriously creeping us out -- and it's not the only one.
What some women decided to decorate"
Here's the link (where they have some rude comments about belly painting)

Re: Anti Belly Painting story
I thought the one saying simply BABY! was hilarious.....I didn't care for the author of the captions, but the belly art was great!
I mean, it is kinda weird paying someone money to paint your extended belly....but frankly, I love looking at it on those rare brave mothers to be!

Re: Anti Belly Painting story
My grandson's Mother had prego pics done and gave us all one, framed for Christmas. I love my grandbaby to death but I was counting the days until I could get her belly out of my living room!

Re: Anti Belly Painting story
If I knew of such a thing (belly painting) when I was pregnant with my twins, I would have loved to have had one done...but I sure wouldn't have given it to anyone (least of all my inlaws ) to put on display
Misha, I assume your d-i-l gave you just a 'bare belly' photograph, not a painted belly one?? That would be awkward, having to have a framed picture like that on display in my opinion anyway. You were probably extra excited to get the first baby picture

Re: Anti Belly Painting story
Yep. I saw it too and posted my own thread. Haha. Great minds think alike.
Re: Anti Belly Painting story
Yes it was a bare belly pic , it was before I started painting otherwise I would've taken full advantage! The worse part was she wasn't even my DIL, lol. My wonderful grand baby is a product of a on again off again relationship of my step son and her. (For the record I hate the term "step son",but my oldest is only 15!)

Re: Anti Belly Painting story
I just love pregnant women, I think they look so wonderful, and I love that baby belly....I'm surprised people can have such mean things to comment on a woman who is carrying a baby inside her....

Re: Anti Belly Painting story
I find paintings on pregnant bellies a bit gross/creepy/tasteless myself. I did like the one in the link painted as a basketball, because that's kinda funny. The 'serious' ones I can't stand though, even though I can appreciate the talent that's gone into them.

Re: Anti Belly Painting story
How anyone could put a picture of Lynne jamieson's work in a section marked "cringe worthy" is just beyond me!!! That have to have issues!!! I so wish belly painting had been around when I was pregnant, it has become my favourite canvas!
