A Little Joy in July
Tomorrow I have a gig at a day camp, and here are the joys:
1) It is five minutes from my home.
2) I'm painting 70 kids over several hours, so a moderate pace but high volume.
3) I'll be in the air-conditioned basement (best joy of all!), so ... no weather worries re: sun, wind, rain.
4) It was a booking out of the blue, with possible repeat business.
5) I do PPF a LOT all summer, so it's so nice to walk in with the FatMax, get a check, and paint away without collecting money, etc.
Just wanted to share the joy! Some gigs are great:DÂ

Re: A Little Joy in July
That's great! Good luck for more in the future. I think the A.C. is the best!!!!
Re: A Little Joy in July
Thanks! I will try to snap a few pictures. I'm doing a word list for the first time ever. I always bring chooser boards with beautiful photos, but I don't have any Fourth of July designs photographed. I am doing housework today, in between painting on my left arm . By tomorrow, I'll have some cool stuff in my head, and the kids will have to pick without seeing for the first time for me. It'll be fun to work in a new way. I can already see the fun of doing swirly things on the spot.
And yes - A/C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let me say that again: A/C!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: A Little Joy in July
More fun joy in July - I just got a call from a man for a party (which I can't do as I'm booked that day . But here's how I met him: when I bought sand at Home Depot to fill my empty sandbags with (for my festival tent), I was struggling with them a bit in the parking lot, with my trunk open. I planned to fill them right then and there.
And this very kind man came over and he poured while I held the bags open. We got to talking (of course!) and he asked for my card. And I just got off the phone with him and his wife and they are such fun people and I feel sure to do a party with them at some other time.
This job, as I've said, is so much fun. It's like one long unwinding story ...
