I know that a couple of you have and use an easy up/ easy folt tent/canopy.

I want a 2x2 tent

Can you set up a tent like this on your own? (Just 1 person)

Yes, I can set up an EZ Up 10'x10' tent by myself.
I had to purchase a white tent because there are events where they require ONLY white tents for every vendor.
I adore the 6'x6' size (your 2mx2m). It looks like just the right size for a face painter. I have never seen them that size before.

I can set up a 10 x 10 by myself now, but it does take practice. A lot of festivals want uniformity & require a white 10 x 10. The trick is to get all your signage on the tent & then get under it & lift from the center till it's almost fully open. Then you run from poll to poll locking everything in place. Usually your neighboring tents will hop in & help & you can do the same for them.

I personally cant set up my 10x10 by myself but i have degenerative disk disease in my back so i just don't have the strength so my hubby does it for me.
The only thing i say about the one you linked is it appears to require the cords to stabilize it and in a Festival setting that wont work. Just check to make sure it's stable without them before you buy it.

If I set up on grass, I use four corkscrew shaped dog tie outs to anchor my tent with bungee cords. If I am on cement, I anchor the tent with bungee cords attached to 6 gallon (27 Litre) potable water containers with built in handles (and then you have water for your event). At the end, I water the nearest flower beds. The water containers are heavier than sand bags, and they are lighter on the way home! There have been wind storms that have ripped up tents all around me. I was scared by the wind, lowered the tent, tightened the bungees accordingly, and was just fine while tents all around me were trashed and crashed into other tents.

I am madly in love with my tent. I bought a 10 x 10 from Caravan last year. It's easy to set up with the method described above (getting under it and lifting it in the middle). It has pull rings for the leg height adjustments, so I never pinch my fingers. It is still a mini-workout, but that's how I choose to view it, too, to make it a positive experience. On 90 degree days, though, there are places I would rather be than out in a field or on a blacktop erecting a tent. But it's all over in ten minutes and then I'm there Smile.

and the weight of the tent (sail?) does this matter?
They also have things that you can put at the corners for stabilizing.

Weights for the corners are sometimes needed. You will be glad to have them on those occasions. When the wind gusts, it can create an unsafe situation, and you don't want your tent turning into a sailboat and possibly injuring someone. For my set-up, I bought these wrap-around bags that fasten with strong Velcro and can be staked to the ground. I filled them with sandbox sand. They're heavy.

Post by rthling Fri Jun 28, 2013 5:54 pm

I bought an EZ up tent from Sam's after reading such good reviews about it on here. It was a very nice tent. I knew I'd like it right away, because the canopy stays on it when you put it away, unlike the First Up version I had from Walmart.
But the bag it stored in was very much a pain to put on and the zipper on the bag failed the very first time I put the tent back in it.
I'm sorry, but I need better quality for my money. My hubby thinks it was a flawed zipper and I should get another one to try it again.
Does anyone else have a problem with their EZ Up tent bag?

I never use my bag either. I have added a beaded fringe to the canopy, and that makes it too bulky for the bag. Besides... it is easier to put into my car without the bag. Yes...the bag has wheels on it... but I dare you to drag that sucker over grass. HA! If you really want to try another bag... I have 4 of them hanging in my garage... would be glad to give them to you for the meager price of you pay the shipping. Very Happy

In the comment box, right below the icon to make your font bold, is an icon for hosting pictures. Click on it, select Upload or Browse (whichever leads you to your computer's picture files), then pick which photo on your computer you'd like to upload. Select that photo by clicking on it, then click the tab that says Host It. Choose the option of the actual photo, and size drop down option for websites. (Forums and blogs is still too big) right click on the code it will give you, copy the code, click on the picture icon again, to close the code box, then paste it in where you normally type your posts.
I can only do this from my computer, not my phone.

WOW! Now that I've mastered adding photos (LOL) I'll post some other looks that my company uses.  We paint for a couple of Renaissance Fairs so we have to mitigate the "modern" appearance of our tent... so I have added wood print fabric sleeves for the tent legs and then wrap floral garlands down the legs and then wrap the interior frame work with matching garlands.  We do spring flowers for the spring Ren. Fair and fall leaves for the fall fair.  To cover up the EZ-Up sign on the canopy, I made a coat of arms that I attach with velcro that's kind of cute.  We also call ourselves "The Painting Ladies" when we are at Ren. Fairs rather than our real company name.  So here's a photo of us at last year's Ren. Fair.

Our last look comes from just a couple weeks ago.  I had to rent a tent for all 6 of us to fit under!  It was for a huge Balloon Glow (one of our city's 4th of July celebration) on a historic mansion's grounds.  There were about 17,000 people on the grounds that night and so it was all hands on deck for my company.  I have 6 artists (counting myself) and we were SWAMPED!!  So here we are all decked out for the 4th of July. Very Happy

Hey Monna, Don't you just LOVE zebra print?!?!  I love your set up too!  Where did you get the fabric for those awesome side curtains?

Shout out to Lee Marie - Glad you like "The Painting Ladies" thing.  My real company name is "Funny Face Designs by Lori" and I didn't think that really fit with the whole Renaissance Fair thing.  So for Ren. fair events only... we become "The Painting Ladies".  Besides we are usually out of general trade area when we do Ren. Fair... so it really doesn't matter what our name is. HA!  And if anyone wants to get ahold of us for other events... we do have our business cards on the tables.
