i have been thinking for day what i want to name my business and I'm not coming up with anything that lets me feel like" that's perfect!"...i want something creative...i want it to be able to relate to both adults and kids, and not gender specific. i have spent so much time thinking about it that I'm seriously stressing out and getting headaches...and this is just the beginning. I wasn't going to start doing the whole business thing for a while but i mentioned on Facebook that I'm learning how to face paint and a lady who is in charge of a fair asked if i wanted to donate my time and in return they will promote me and get me help with starting on the business because it will be a really good way to get my name out there and have possible bookings....if i only had a name Rolling Eyes ....i feel like this will give me the push i need to start business otherwise i will never feel like I'm good enough and this will get me to practice practice practice Smile

Be sure to google whatever you pick. If you choose a name that another company has, you'll have to fight for someone to find out when searching for you on the internet. It's not the end of the world, just makes it harder to stand out.

Watch that "free exposure" thing. Usually people enjoying free face painting are not the people that will hire you for parties...believe me I've given out thousands of cards and only had about 5 book me in two years. They find you through the internet when the time comes. I have had referrals from other birthday parties however, that is good exposure. Smile

there is a website colorfulsmiles.com but its a spanish travel team looking website(like to share pics and events, not as business kind) so i was thinking doing colorfulsmiles.net or simular...also i have been reading a lot and because i need a ton of practice, doing a fair would help me learn what its like to work under pressure i guess is the way i would describe. child after child, not spending 10 minutes on a face. i think im more excited about making so many kids happy and practicing and cutting down time for each person than getting ton of bookings...dont get me wrong that would be great but i dont think my work is close to having to get a paid gig yet...im rambling....should i pass on this event?...i didnt sign a contract with them yet....now im having second thoughts Sad

when i first started i did free shows/parties just for the expierence... and i did hand out business cards just to get my name out there that "hey i am here" didn't get a any bookings but by word of mouth my business spread and mind you this was before the internet was really popular LOL! only one suggestion i do have... make a board with your best/fastest work so you can get faster and faster at them... when i started i had filled two poster boards with designs... one board with small and one with medium/large designs... then as i got better i added more... and before i knew it, i could do them faster... until then just keep practicing Smile
