Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix
Does anyone use these Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix to help make better dots? http://www.loew-cornell.com/product-page-pages-43.php?cid=114&pid=428 I saw them at hobby lobby but thought I would try to get some feedback on them first. Tired of wasting $ on "ideas" lol. Thanks in advance!
Re: Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix
I did pointy ones years ago from HL, but I seldom remembered I had them...and I think I passed most of them along and only have my favorite left. I do like it, but I think I couldn't work with the flat ones as well. The pointy one I can variate the size with how much pressure I apply.
Re: Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix
Have them but don't use them either. You can get good dots with a brush. If you wanted to do something like pearls they would be great.

I think by pointy, you mean Loew Cornell Berry Makers...?
I have the whole set and I use then ALL the time with my dippy pot.

Probably not...
But I'm actually working on re-organizing as we speak... (so to speak)
Re: Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix
Erika, these are the ones that Anniel and Miss Ronnie are talking about i.e. "pointy ones". http://www.loew-cornell.com/product-page-pages-43.php?cid=248&pid=426 They do make good dots. The flat "dauber" ones in your link are more limited to certain designs IMO.

Re: Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix
I have them, the pink ones, haven't really had the chance to use them, Seriously I forget I have them... When painting faces I already have a brush for black and one for white, lets say you were doing different sized dots, how many other "tools" do you want to have to pick up and then wash. A brush works great for dots... JMO..
Re: Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix
Yea, I just need to practice and get better at my dots...thanks guys!
Re: Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix
I have the dotter and the pointer, never use them, some time I use the bigger round to do the dots for the pirate, but I never paint pirates so...
Re: Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix
I have a dotter wand.. I don't use it because it is easier to use a brush that is already loaded IMO. It does make cute little dots though.
Re: Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix
I have these, and they work GREAT when you have lots of dots of the same size. If you're doing the Roy Lichtenstein girl, I think you'd pretty much have to have them. If you've got a bunch of flowers all the same size, or tiny ornaments on a tree, they'd be helpful. Other than that, I just use the brush in my hand most of the time. I suck at dots, but it's easier.
They'd make a good stocking stuffer!

I have the pink handles round (Flatish) dotters...and sorry...don't care for them at all. The pointy ended ones look promising though.

Re: Loew Cornell 4pc Style Stix
I have the pointy ones and don't use them at all. Why go back and forth when the brush works fine.
I use daubers (sticks with round sponges at the end) for pearls and those I use ALL the time. Splitcake + Small Dauber = Perfect Pearl.
As for the "splats", is your brush wet enough?
Also, is your brush big enough?
For dots I use a #6 round
I wet the paint till I have a puddle in the middle and then I completely load the brush in the inky well.
I mean, your brush shouldn't be DRIPPING but it should be totally saturated.
For big dot press harder, for small touch lightly.

I have the L-C set, so far I've only used them for my Dia De Los Muertos makeup for the eyes. They worked perfectly for that.
