Re: boy bday superhero
so, I spent all week researching and practicing superheroes and putting new pictures in my book, only to get to the party and NO ONE wanted superhero, NOT ONE!! lol, well, I have a lot of straight line practice nowanyway, haha
Re: boy bday superhero
I never worry about theme parties... most kids will NOT pick from the theme no matter what the micro-managing moms want.

Re: boy bday superhero
that sounds familiar, I had the same experience recently.
I had an occasion with a knight, dragon and princess theme.
But many kids wanted other things like tigers and butterfly's.

Mine's kind of the opposite. It was supposed to be pirates and everyone wanted superheroes. Grass is greener baby...
I've learned that the hard way. Unless the paying client insists on a theme board (like a tailgater I did recently) and wants the attendees in theme, I just take my usual boards.
What I have been doing is drawing some ideas on a sheet of paper from my inspiration folder (for instance Halloween designs) so I have them as a reference in case. That way I haven't invested too much time but I still have a small crop of ideas to choose from if they do want themed designs.
You'll notice I said draw...I've learned the hard way NEVER take your inspiration pictures. I swear mom's can smell them and will insist on pulling them out. You do NOT want to try a Mark Reid tiger or Marcela mask on the fly. Draw enough to help you remember the design.
I've also done this with a one-time theme party (a book signing) I printed about 12 faces on a sheet of paper and just did line drawings of the different ideas and it worked really well. Everyone got what the designs were and it only took me about 15 minutes.
Now I just make theme boards if I think I'm going to use them over and over. Superheroes is a good one though. I had about 4 parties with that theme last year.

Yeah, I just added some superheroes to my usual book, I use a book, and take pictures in and out depending on what I want to offer, I bought a board after seeing yours Denise, but I havent painted it yet, I started and realized its not like painting faces!! lol
Re: boy bday superhero
LOVE the Pegasus!...sorry...didn't notice it before.
Nope, it's not like faces. But once you get used to it, it's not that bad.
