RWB design ideas
Hi Everyone,
I am going to paint a cheer leading team who's colors are Red, White and Blue next week. I need a few quick ideas for some cute RWB eye designs and cheek art. I tried looking at the galleries but I can not see any pictures, just little computer graphic squares. Also could you guys give me some pointers on painting little stars? My stars look awful, was wondering if star stencils would be the way to go? Or do you have a trick to painting your stars? Thanks!!! Mary

Re: RWB design ideas
When I was in elementary school, the art teacher taught us a way to make stars that look more even:
Make an A
Cross up high
Touch the bottoms to the sky.
So make the A shape (meaning upside down V). Equal length line crossing it up high, about 1/3 the way down. Then connect the bottom ends across to the opposite points.
I hope I explained that well enough. It's pretty simple when you do it, and it helps make the star's arms more even.
Good luck!

Re: RWB design ideas
I make stars by drawing the outline, like if you were quickly sketching stars, and then filling it in. Hope that helped.
Re: RWB design ideas
I "draw" my stars like I'm sketching on paper, and fill it like Izzy.
I can't get my picture to post for some reason, but you can see at least one RWB design on my website in the gallery. www.facesalive.com

Re: RWB design ideas
There's lots of 4th of july faces out there, maybe you can check out those and see what you can adapt.
Re: RWB design ideas
Thanks Everyone You know it's crazy, I have been "Googling" 4th of July faces and really can't seam to find much...I will keep looking, thank you all for the star ideas!
Re: RWB design ideas
Here are a few I did around the 4th. Angie has a GREAT 'flag' eye design somewhere around here....
This is my 'not nealy as good' version of Angie's Eye design
I just bought a red, white and blue split cake and did my normal designs with those colors. Are they wanting specific things, in those colors?
Good luck!

Re: RWB design ideas
I suck at stars too most of the time so heres what I do at times....
We paint at softball tournaments and the girls love the stars on their arm so I got one of those sponge/foamy star stamps at Michael's craft store. I get my large brush and brush the paint over it, stamp it on them, puff with glitter, put their team number, done! It actaully works very well and many times a whole team wants it before their game and I have to be fast. The star I use is about the size of a silver dollar but you can probably find a smaller one if needed.
I started doing the astric type star too and now I do them alot on most of my designs.. they are really easy and fast. The way I do mine is, I place my small thin brush in the middle and flick out and just repeat that 8 times total. So by time its done you kinda have a thick middle to it.

Heather, I also love the eye design of RWBs. I have got to try that on my kids soon.
Debi, you star brust look very even, Just years of practice? I can't seem to get mine even like yours. What white do you use? (Also love the design).

Re: RWB design ideas
I usually use wolfe white but recently ran out so I've been using my FX Diamond white and Paradise. Mostly the Diamond for line work and doing dots over the black.
The astric just takes alittle practise and you'll get it soon enough . Mine are not always even but they still look fine uneven. I make like a cross + first and those are longer strokes...then do the last four flicks inbetween smaller.
