So...we all love stuff. We all, specifically, love face painting stuff. Or we wouldn't be here, right?

At what point does "liking stuff" turn into "whoops, I'm now a card-carrying trainee tackle tart"?

I started face painting less than a month ago, and already I've burst out of the original Snaz starter kit box I had, into a larger organiser box. I only wanted to be a mum-who-paints-her-son-and-friends, but by the end of the week I will officially be in possession of:

17 Snazaroo cakes (I like the sparkly ones....mmmm, sparkles....)
19 Superstar cakes (I like the shimmery ones....mmmm, shimmer....)
4 Cameleon Colorblocks
1 Paradise Prisma double split cake thingummy (that's a technical term)
4 DFX rainbow cakes
A couple of glitter gels, plus one large bag of aurora-type glitter and puffer bottle
More sponges than you can throw at a small boy at once. I've tried.
About 30 brushes of various sorts and brands - love my Royals and Series 7s
A set of round mop sponge thingies
A couple of brush tubs and other accessories
A few books on the subject, including Shannon's (yay for Shannon's!)

Now....the pros on here would put me to shame, I know. They often have amazing kits and I get a serious case of envy when I see their posts. But I'm just a beginner, who didn't intend making any sort of business venture out of face painting.

THIS IS WHAT YOU LOT DID TO A NORMAL, EVERYDAY CRAFTY MUM!

I AM BLAMING YOU, FACE PAINT FORUMITES.

Laughing

Is there hope for me? Or am I just a hopeless case? Please advise. Help!

Of course, none of this implies I can actually USE the stuff. I'm so clueless, but I love trying!

Kammy xx

P.S. If you don't hear from me again, I disappeared under a pile of paint cakes. Think fondly of me.

Well....um....wow. You're quite the honest one, aren't you?! I mean, no "breaking it to her gently" from you! Shocked

I'm having a very nice day, thank you. I made myself into a rainbow tiger and made an unexpected delivery man jump. Always good when that happens, right? Laughing Hope you're well and happy today.

I'm like you!
2 months ago, I decided to really go painting!
Holding myself back with buying (uninployed... so not a lot of extra money)

Just wanting a splitcake, I bought a kit and a pink PartyXplosion and a nice bleu Superstar, oke, and a lavendel (purple?) one. And sponges.

Then there was a sale... they had a very nice suitcase with 26 collors for half the price (and that price was already the lowest price on the internet)... didn't go that day... holding myself back!!!

I really, really needed a grey paint and orange... So I've bougt a golden Superstar, a beige/orange/gold (don't know how to explain) from Grimas and a orange from Superstar.

The saterday after that.. the suitcase was stille availlable... and I've called my mom (shame on me)... she payed it for me!! So I went driving for 2 hours buying that kit and a Rose splitcake, and some glitter and a sponge with a stick (hahaha, sorry don't know what it's called in English)

And last week I ordered 2 more splitcakes (a fire/dragon one and a ocean one) and a light pink one.

I think I'm quite happy now with my kit! I only "need" a bigger rainbow cake.. but no money!

But the things I make I love, I get relaxed doing it. It makes me happy, and I really need that! And friday I get payed for the first time, just for the material, but it's a start!!! And now networking for more!

Ahhhh, see, I feel better now. I have no Fatmax, nor enough stuff to fill one, and it's my first gig on Saturday - just a little thing I'm doing for a local charity that needs help, for a donation towards paint costs. So when I'm worried about my addiction, I can relax and tell myself

"Well, it could be worse. I could be as bad a tackle tart as Lizzie."

Laughing

Daphne, good luck with your first gig! Let us know how it goes? Smile

There's still hope for you though...
Me, that's another case all together... I'm officially an addict.
But since I've been doing this for a long time, I forgive myself this addiction...
Some women buy shoes and purses... I buy paints, sponges, glitter and (loads of) brushes
I'll unload my facepainting kit tonight and take a picture of it, so you'll see what I mean. I've had to split my cakes (so I put two colours in one pot) because otherwise they wouldn't fit in my (farely large) trolley anymore Embarassed

I'm not so convinced there's hope for me, but at least your photos will assuage my guilt for a while. Laughing I think I'm going to take my kit in a scrapbooking wheel tote to the gig on Saturday, so that's not too bad.
