Re: And the winner is....$5.00 faces!!! 10 to 1 (little long)
Well, even though we do need each other for support, I propose that we take two days to get our unicorn poop together and come back here with a fresh perspective. There are a lot of things I need to catch up on. I think I'm going to take a mini cyber break and only check email for a couple of days. Ronnie and Lorie and whomever else wants to, let's get a few things done and come back and have a chat. How about 8 PM MST on Thursday. Would that work? We'll get some things done that have been nagging on us and come back and talk about it.
Jeez...I jacked my own thread.

There is a lot of great information here! I really appreciate that you took the time and you are generous enough to show off your booth and designs. I've been stuck on my booth layout for a couple years now and you have seriously inspired me!

Some people did balk at having to pay up front but it was SOOOOO nice to have that transaction taken care of before they even got to me. It's so awkward when mom sneeks off to look at a booth a few tents down when you've painted a kid and try to get some money.
I ALWAYS take payment at PPF events ahead of time. Would the guy at the hotdog booth let you take a bite of your hotdog, walk away and then trust you to come back and pay for it? I don't think so! Does Macy's let a kid run all over town in an outfit and then chase down mom and dad to pay for it? Nope. I take payment up front. That's just the way I understand business transactions work! Not to mention that in our line of work, if we make an "oops" we can wash it off and start again or cover it up with teardrops, bling and glitter, so satisfaction can be guaranteed and if they REALLY hate it, a refund isn't THAT difficult to provide (never had one ask for a refund though!!!)

Lorrie, Ronnie, and Denise...you have seen the inside of my house haven't you? I am so happy not to be the only person with these same traits.
I like your set up Densie! I would love to see more pictures. Where did you get the stakes? What do you do if you are not on grass?

The stakes were in the fencing section of Lowe's home improvement. They are designed for electrified fencing so they are plastic at the top and have a metal spike. I HOPE I'm not on cement for the 4th, or I'll be looking for an alternative fencing because I really liked my setup.
I'll probably end up making an alternative in wood or PVC. I could just make a single stand for each sign and then line them up.

Thanks Denise for being such an awesome and caring friend to help each of us along in our face painting journey. I just feel really excited again to practice. I know you have worked really hard through trial and error and I've no doubt you will prosper for being so generous.
Hey, you should write a book!

I love how you do your whole set up. Very nice and I love your art!!

Denise I love your boards! That's so much simpler than constantly trying to find faces to paint everytime you want to offer a new face. My kids are getting to the age now where I have to beg and bribe and that's tedious.
Is it black paper you paint on or are those chalkboards?

They are foam core poster board. I get them at our local Dollar Tree but I've heard they are school supply and craft stores. They have paper on the outside and foam on the inside so they are rigid. Great for birthday's too.
Re: And the winner is....$5.00 faces!!! 10 to 1 (little long)
Thanks. I'll have to see if our local giant, Warehouse Stationery, has that.
Re: And the winner is....$5.00 faces!!! 10 to 1 (little long)
Kara - any success in locating a similar type board here in NZ?
Re: And the winner is....$5.00 faces!!! 10 to 1 (little long)
Not yet, aholly. I live a long way (45min drive) from my nearest Warehouse Stationery, so I don't get there too often
I might manage a look this weekend on my way through to Auckland. I need to find UV craft paint for props too. I doubt the UV facepaint I have would last long on fabric and foam and plastic wrap.
